This is not true. The only actual criteria for getting the achievement is getting a killing blow on an enemy in a room that's on fire.
All I was saying is that it can be achieved on your or the enemies ship. If the situation arises that you have a rock boarder (preferably) and fire bombs/natural-carnage or.. a teleporter, mind control, and fire bombs; there's no sense in missing out on it due to a misunderstanding of the achievement.
Any Crystal can activate the portal to the secret sector whatever its name. There however is an exploit where a quest marker will appear on the map at the beacon where the portal is, if a Crystal with a certain name is part of your crew.
That's correct. My response was poorly worded; I've edited to clarify it. What I had intended by "any ship" was yours or the enemies.
