Crystal Cruiser HELP

I got the first event in unlocking the crystal cruiser so decided to dedicate this run to attempting that, managed to get the pod unlocked and get my Crystal crew, however Im reading that you can only find the hidden crystal world in a Rock Homeworlds sector?

If this is true than I might aswell re start as Ive only got one sector left and its a slug nebula...?

Wanted confirmation before I restart and regret it :)

Yeah it's only found in the Rock Homeworlds

One more thing, I'm thinking of going back to easy to make focusing on the crystal cruiser easier. Any ideas if this affects unlocking it?

Play with Rock C. Rename crystal crewmember to Ruwen.
Try to go to as many red sectors in sectors 5-7.
If one of them is Rock Homeworld and your crytal crew is Ruwen, you should see quest beacon.

I did it old way pre AE, and it took me 300 hours, though for first about 60-100 hours I didn't try to win it. And I played games to end even if I didn't do steps 1-3.

Can you provide citation that you need to rename the crew? I always name my crystal crew as gemstones.

I never bothered with it, because I'm not interested in Crystal sector.
You can still visit it from Rock Homeworlds, it just won't show quest beacon, if you miss first 2 steps.
But I can't confirm it personaly. I guess, next time I play Rock C, I'll rename him.

I can confirm it.
Rename your Crytsal crewmember to Ruwen before entering Rock Homeworlds, and there will be a quest beacon that takes you to the Crystal Homeworld(if you don't rename him and you missed first 2 steps on Crystal event, you can still visit it, but you will have to guess which beacon is entry).
