Moving Over Game Data

I recently got a new computer... Does anyone know how I can transfer over my FTL game data from my old computer to this one? That way I don't have to get all the ships and stuff again...

There are the save game locations, copy/paste away.

Steam should transfer over everything except your currently saved game automagically.

Not between different OSs for whatever reason. Steam does it for many other games and the save files are identical between OSs, but it doesn´t seem to care with FTL (granted FTL is not the only game with this issue). I presume its one of those minor things that can just be left out if the devs aren´t paying enough attention while implementing the cloud.

The profile data for FTL is cross platform so you're welcome to migrate it to any machine. The locations for profiles are listed below for each operating system, just copy "ae_prof.sav" and "prof.sav" over to keep your unlocked ships / achievements.

Note: Folders won't be available until you run the game at least once, but you can make them manually and that will work as well.

Windows

My Documents/My Games/FasterThanLight

Mac

~/Library/Application Support/FasterThanLight/

If you can't find your Library folder, it's because on Mac OS Lion it's defaulted to hidden. Open a Terminal and enter:

chflags nohidden ~/Library/

Or just open Finder and "Go->Go to Folder" and enter the path

Linux

For most users, it will be in ~/.local/share/FasterThanLight/

...but if you modified XDG_DATA_HOME it will be in [XDG_DATA_HOME]/FasterThanLight
