Insane, Unplayable Lag

So before the Advanced Edition update, I was able to play FTL perfectly fine. No lag at all, it ran beautifully. Day one of the update, the lag to so intense that the game is unplayable. Has anyone had a similar issue? I really love this game and it's killing me not being able to play it. I've already done all the very basics, resetting the laptop, uninstalling and reinstalling. Does anyone know how to fix this?

I only ever had a mouse delay, is it everything being delayed?

Check the cache, check your drivers?

Framerate?

It looks like everything is being delayed. It will load perfectly fine with the loading animation working normally and the mouse moving well, but as soon as I hit the main menu everything starts lagging. To be honest, I would have to guess the framerate at like .5 per second. It says my video card is up to date. How do you check the cache?

Right click on the game in the library > properties > verify game cache (or something like that). At least it will check the install. It still sounds like a video card/hardware issue to me, is it running integrated graphics as well? Is this the only game with an issue?

Yep it says the cache is fine. No integrated graphics that I know of. And yep, it's the only one right now.

Make sure vsync is off and turn the frame limit on.

My 7 year old laptop lags on this game... my 1 year old desktop runs it at between 500 and 1200 fps...

My desktop is going on 2 years old and it can execute an infinite loop in under 3 seconds.

I think that you need to turn "limit frame rate" on.

It doesn't have any adverse effects running at that framerate(sidenote: only reason I know it's that high is because I had fraps running in the background). Most runs start around 1100 fps, and it dips to the 500s with full crew in combat.

Turn down of your graphics options. Most notably advanced backgrounds.

i had this and i updated my video driver and it went away, i know you said your driver was fine, but do it anyway, it cant hurt. good luck. i had to kook up how do i update my video driver on the youtube and i found a how to video and it helped.

My computer lags out when I enter nebulas, but I just turned off dynamic backgrounds and it shot up to 200+ fps

Iv tryed evrything that evrybody had suggested, checked driver's (there up to date) reenstalled driver's, turned all options on and off with a seprate play for both, tryed going online and offline steam, with and without mods, iv checked the fram rate of the game during the loading screen where you dont get the laggy mouse, it had 5fps, then in the main menu where you do have the laggy mouse i had max 7fps, start game it waved between 3 to 5 fps, this is a problem with the game it self and need to be looked into and fixed hopefully soon.

I've had this as well, worked around it by hitting the show desktop hotkey and alt-tabbing back to the game. Not sure why it works or why the game lags down.
