Lanius B ship is quite lame.
I was hoping for an all-Lanius crew and no oxygen system. Instead I just get a teleporter and a mind control ray.
Very disappointing that we can't have a "true" Lanius ship playable.

Quite lame? Extremely capable boarding ship... And if it wouldn't have an oxygen system... Oh the amount of flame and rant that you can't find enough crew for it...

I agree that all-Lanius crew would be quite unique. But saying that "just get a teleporter and a mind control ray" when you get 2 Lanius crewmen with them. Have you tried how extremely deadly that combination is..?

I actually ended up having an interesting run with the Tauros B, where I got three Lanius crew members as additions, and the only non-Lanius member I received was a Zoltan(Until sector six or so). It was certainly a unique experience, and I was virtually immune to boarders; if they didn't outright die from lack of Oxygen, my Lanius finished them off; if they got to one of the two rooms that had Oxygen in it(The pilot's seat and he Shields), my other crew ran to the Med-bay and they died from lack of Oxygen. Ended up losing later on, but it was an enriching experience; playing most of the game from sector two onward with no Oxygen was interesting.

I don't have either of the Lanius ships, and while an entire Lanius crew would be interesting, but no Oxygen system would make it incredibly weak. You'd be relying on finding Abandoned sectors to even hope to fully staff your ship, assuming that you don't do intense micro with a level two Med-Bay... It sounds interesting on paper, and it would provide a more interesting way to play, but I feel like it wouldn't be that viable; it'd be way too hard to assemble and keep a crew growing if it had no Oxygen system, and you didn't get particularly lucky with Abandoned sectors to get more crew.

The Shrike is the finest ship to ever grace FTL! You will rescind your disparaging remarks posthaste!

Seriously, the reason why both lanius ships are fitted with O2 and only two lanius crew is because having all lanius removes several significant elements of the game.

No fear of having your crew die to the vacuum of space. No fear of slug events. No fear of non-lanius boarders. No fear of fires. No fear of breaches (except that you still have to repair them before you can repair a system). Not requiring that pesky O2 system means that you have room for a more useful system.

...and people complain about easy mode.

How did you find so many lanius crew?
From one single abandoned sector. Found 2 when visited the first store, found one during random event and bought the 4th from 2nd store...

Nice! I want to find a store with two lanius. I've always thought that in order to actually use lanius boarders you need two as they don't pair well with anything... except maybe crystal.

All you need is sensors/life-form scanner and you have the perfect ship to abduct poor, poor carbon-based life-forms onto your depressurized ship. This ship is amazing.

You could also upgrade your defenses and wait for the enemy to die of old age... Takes equal amount of time, +/- 5 decades.

Whatever it takes. The rebels will wait for you.

A starter crew of 3 Lanius should be absolutely fine with the cloning bay.
And you guys are forgetting that you could always buy an oxygen system. Just like with ships missing shields, sensors, and doors.

True, and that's just one extra reason why the ship could be extremely unbalanced.

How would it be unbalanced?

By allowing you to install more powerful systems than oxygen, which you don't need if you're only having Lanius crewman. Just think about that... It's like Slug B, except without the weakness of Slug B (no medbay nor cloning bay).

It's one of the strongest ships in the game, up there with Mantis B and Crystal B.

One of the devs did a Q&A on a live stream for AE's launch, he mentioned that they didn't do a full lanius zero oygen cruiser because it's not practical. If you got any additional crew they would immediately die.

If it bothers you thematically, you can choose to do a lanius-only run and de-power your O2 room.
Did that, and it was extremely unbalanced ship. I wouldn't be surprised if that was some kind of extra reason why they didn't want to do it. "ooh, you're going to board me? Go ahead, I don't have to lift a finger... Oh dear... There's a fir- oh wait, not any more". Didn't help that Lanius is extremely broken boarder, assuming you have the time to outsmart the AI. And why shouldn't you have because you're technically swimming in scrap because of all the successful boarding events in the past. You have above average shields, above average engines and above average amount of defense drones...
