Edited 4/11/2014 - Updated to Patch version 1.5.10 - http://www.ftlgame.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=23727

If you were using the AE version of this mod - reinstall FTL with the most recent update then follow the instructions below:

Disable Rebel Pursuit - Advanced Edition

This mod enables you to explore every single star if you would like, because the rebel fleet will not catch up to you until the final sector.

Screenshot

Instructions:

Method 1: Easy Peasy copy/paste
1. Download the data.dat file I have created here - {リンクが削除されました}
2. Rename the data.dat file inside "...\FTL Faster Than Light\resources" to olddata.dat
3.Copy or move the downloaded file into that same folder.
4.(Steam Users) Disable Automatic updates in the properties of FTL in Steam
5.Start a new game - and enjoy!

Method 2: Manually edit your own .dat file (Much more complicated, but simple coding)
1.Use FTL Unpacker 1.01 (https://db.tt/V6nmnnmu) to unpack the data.dat file
2.Open the events.xml file
3.Find the event "START_GAME" and add <modifyPursuit amount="-100000"/> right after the </text> but before the </event>
4.Find the event "START_BEACON" and add <modifyPursuit amount="-100000"/> right after the </text> but before the </event>
5.Save and exit events.xml
6.Rename the original "data.dat" file to "olddata.dat"
7.Repack the folder you unpacked the files to again using FTL unpacker
8.(Steam Users) Disable Automatic updates in the properties of FTL in Steam
9.Start a new game (advanced content turned on) -

Myself and a few others have tested and gone through a few sectors without any sight of the fleet.

Test this out at your own risk, and kudos still go out to the original reddit postings from CaptainShooby for the process back in the day, i'm just trying to make it more accessible and provide a working .dat file and screenshot of proof in one spot, after the AE update.

Mac Instructions from CaptainCannibal

1) Go to Steam, right click on FTL, select "Properties" 2) Go to "local files" and hit "show in finder" 3) Right click on the FTL game app that it takes you to 4) "Show package contents" and navigate to the Resources folder 5) Drop in the .dat and enjoy!

Update: 4/9/14 11:00am EST

The aforementioned bug of not unlocking the Zoltan Cruiser has been confirmed by developers as a bug that happens with or without this mod - as such I have struck out that bug report and here is the link where the developer confirms the issue - http://www.reddit.com/r/ftlgame/comments/227ypm/ftl_ae_submitting_bugs_requested_by_devs/cglhujj

It just removes the ever-pursuing fleet, as far as I can tell. Allows you to take your sweet time instead of just forcing you along.

Doesn't make the game itself any easier aside from letting you hit as many beacons as you want before you decide to leave, rather than hitting a few beacons before you can't backtrack without getting into an extremely difficult fight.

Well thankfully it takes no amount of your time to see the subject line, and move on - Your choice to waste your time trying to discourage people enjoying the game the way they wish to.

The only difficulty in FTL is the limited ammount of scrap you can get before fighting the boss. By removing fleet pursuit you make it than in sector 5 you will alrdy have all systems maxed out.
And without this mode ones have close to 100% winrate in easy, others in normal, and some on hard. While some struggle to kill flagship on easy with fully upgraded systems.

But sure, it'll remove some difficulties.

That isn't necessarily true. Some people might still end up spending a ton on repairs, or on weapons, or a Teleporter, etc. And you still can't jump to the same beacon and get infinite scrap by way of new events happening.

It doesn't make the game any less difficult, it just makes it less cheap.
This allows you to take more 'easy fights' and visit more shops straight up in first three sectors, and if you'll take 2 layers of shield as first upgrade since you wont miss any shop, it'll go allmost unscratched. But meh, it doesnt take All difficulty away. If you aim for shops, you'll likely find most of'em searching correctly with rebel fleet incoming. You'll just get like 30-40% more income without timer. Systems are capped anyway, so you wont get more than 54% evasion or 4 shields etc.

Yes, but when do you ever, ever max out your ship on normal or easy? Capping doesn't matter there. It's rare.
