Unlock Lanius Cruiser?

A friend of mine (not me, really) says he doesn't have the Lanius Cruiser unlocked. I had it unlocked from the start of the game so I don't know if I'd already done whatever objective you need to do to get it, or what.

Is it possible he just forgot to set the Advanced Edition version to 'on'?

Pretty sure you need 4 ships unlocked in ADDITION to the Kestrel in order to get the Lamius Cruiser. Most people likely "started" with it because they had a bunch of ships unlocked before AE hit

This is true. I have issues with an update to my laptop which made FTL no longer playable (CTD just after I choose my ship). I put it on an old desktop that doesn't have the internet. On my laptop I had the new ship unlocked, but on my desktop which was a blank save I didn't have it. It said that I needed to unlock four more ships like you said. Once I did that I got the new ship. So likely as said not many older playerswould needto unlock the new ship.

Also I heard there's a quest aswell you can do for the ship. It requires using a Lanius crewman blue option to make a Lanius fleet attack the rebels. However the likelyhood of getting that quest and the right crewman before 4 ships is slim to none.

This is for the unlocks on all ships.

To get Lanius ship you need to have at least 4 ships unlocked.

To get type C of any ship you need to take the Type B version of that ship to sector 8. You do not need to fight the boss when you get to sector 8 it should have a popup saying you unlocked Type C. This can be done on any mode, easy, medium, or hard.

You need 4 ships to get Lanius ship, in any case tell your freind to look at the Lanius ship A in ship list it will tell him what he needs to do to unlock it. I expect the quest to unlock it will involve the Lanius Translater event in abandoned sector.

I'm almost positive, from testing, that you need the first 4 ships, meaning: the starting ship, the engi ship (the torus, not the nesasio) the federation cruiser (the osprey) and the zoltan cruiser. I had 4 ships but i didn't unlock it until i got the zoltan, so i am fairly sure that that is requirement.

i had it when i had rock, engi, zoltan, starting ship
