I was going to use this save then some guy said it was cheating so I decided against it.
It's not like using this is defeating the purpose of playing the game by giving you godmode or anything like that, it just skips having to hope the rng goes your way to unlock new playstyles.
It's pretty much the same as buying a premium currency in a f2p game to skip right to a new thing rather than grinding for hours on end hoping to get all the parts you need to make it.
If you buy games just to cheat to unlock everything, you're missing the point of the game.
Because it's my fault that I chose not to get the event where you find the stasis pod, and that I chose not to get the event to revive the crystal crew member, and that I chose not to have a rock world to go to after these where I would be able choose not to get the event to go to the crystal system and unlock the crystal ship. Yep, entirely my fault, not rng at all.
Unlocking all the ships doesn't miss the point of the game. Giving yourself unlimited (or just lots of at the start) scrap, missiles etc. or giving your ship, crew godmode would though. Hmmmm, seems like this save file doesn't do either of those.
Unlocking the ships isn't going to magically make the game a joke and 'miss the point of the game', it just opens up new playstyles since you've got more ships to play through with, this isn't a game where unlocking things makes it easier like eve online, it just opens up new ways to play.
And yeah those things are RNG, but they also have triggers, specific zones, and the like. There are ways you can predict where it might be on the map before you arrive there. It's part of the experience to the game.
And yeah, it doesn't make the game easier. But you also didn't earn the intended rewards and experience from trying to accomplish goals. You circumvent a large portion of the game, the reward part. You feel rewarded when you actually work hard to unlock a ship. Just cheat to get it so you can play with it?
Eh, cheating is cheating and cheaters always run around all kinds of different logics to justify cheating.
Second of all, maybe YOU get good RNG but I have LITERALLY never gotten more than one or two of those stupid random events for the crystal cruiser to line up, let alone all of them.
Third, this game is so mind-numbingly repetitive (by which I mean the "optimal" way to play means that you always do the same things over and over once you've learned the patterns) that I honestly can't blame anyone for not wanting to do literally the same thing over and over again for hundreds of hours just for the incredibly rare chance to get a new ship so you can play it in a different manner than the optimal way, which if you ask me is just bad game design. They should have all the ships unlocked to start and then you have to unlock the variants through playing.
But what do I know, I just play games for fun, not for tedious pointless grinding.
Doesn't change the fact you're a cheater and are undoing someone's life work by doing so. You pay a game to cheat in it.
It's like buying a movie and watching it, but looking up the end scene before you're even finished, or reading the last chapter in a book halfway through.
You say it's dumb game design, I say it adds to the replay value and is a part of what makes the game unique. Methinks Rougelikes aren't really your style of game.
The goal of FTL is to unlock all the ships so you can experience them. Cutting out literally half the experience is what you're doing, why even play the game in the first place? You do you bro, doesnt change that you're a dirty cheater ;P
Playing for fun is cool. But you still cheat lol
