How to unlock type C ship layouts?

I have all of the ships and their type B layouts (some with 2/3 achievements, some with 3/3). I figured having 3/3 achievements would do it, but it hasn't. Do have to beat the boss on all the difficulties or something? Would appreciate feedback from anybody who has figured it out. Thanks.

I can't figure it out either!

Edit: Figured it out! Go to the list and press type C, hover over a ship and it tells you how to get it. You have to get to sector 8 with it's type B layout with advanced mode enabled ot unlock a type C layout.

same, i got the new alien cruiser by launching the game, but no hints as to getting c layouts.

Reach Sector 8 with any given ship Layout B, and you get C.
It says so in the ship's list in the hangar, when you show the "C" variants.

Also confirmed, as I already unlocked a ship by reaching sector 8 with the "B" type of that ship.

2. Reach Sector 8 (The Last Sector) in a Type B ship.
That's it.

Where do you get this? Another one told me about something with "A", but it doesn't mention this in-game. What did I miss?

just found where:

in the hangar, select list, at the top of the new ship list menu in the right corner there will be A,B,C layouts, go to C and a new list of hidden ships appear, hover over one any of them and they all say the same thing, to unlock: get the B variant to sector 8, thats it.

Just those "You need to do <things> with Layout A" get in the way. I really want to know where they got that.

one thing I hte about this system is i can't get past sector 1 with the engi type b

I got all engi, you just have to replace your weapons quickly, I only had 2 crew at sector 8.

With type B ship of any kind get to sector 8 and you got yourslef a type C
