Storm and Engine
Hi, I'm in a storm and my engine is knocked off line. However in the engine room the engine is not red and crew is at the console and I'm dead in the water with nothing happening. What do I have to do? Any help would be appreciated.

Unpower something else and give a little juice to the engine
Technically in a non combat situation you only need 2 bars of energy, one in the engine and one in the life support

Ion storms reduce reactor output to half. Remove some power from another system and put it back in engines.

Thank you so much for the quick response

I powered down everything except O2, Piloting, and Doors and have 5% engine power and I can't power down Piloting and Doors. I tried opening all the doors and then power down, didn't work. What do I do, just restart?

No no just put some power in the engine and wait for the bar to fill?
In addition to at least one power in Engines, remember to have a crew in Piloting. I think that out of combat in an Ion Storm, you don't have to wait for the FTL Drive to charge. But if you do have to wait, it can take a minute for the FTL Drive to fully charge and allow you to Jump (which gets quicker with more power in Engines).

Oh, and you need at least 1 Fuel, too.

If my memory is right, ion storm is considered a beacon hazard so I'm pretty sure you have to wait?
But I could be wrong

The icons under the jump button will tell you which system has a problem. Red engine icon means either the engine has no power or it is completely broken or it is ioned completely. Red pilot icon means either there is no one in the pilot room or it is completely broken or it is ioned completely. You can still view the jump screen if you lack fuel but you will have to choose to wait at the beacon you are at (with or without distress beacon on).

You can't power down the subsystems on the right (doors, piloting, sensors, some other things), those don't use power.

Just a quick note. It is perfectly acceptable to power down O2 to redirect it to engines and warp out of the ion storm. O2 will slowly deplete over time, but it takes quite a bit longer than the engines need to power up the warp drive (if it needs to be). Technically, o2 can be at 1% and the crew can survive unimpeded.

Well, I waited till I had 15% power and warped into another storm with a lot of wreckage floating around and got boarded by two personnel that proceeded to kill my crew and I couldn't do a thing about it LOL.

This is the way.

You can jump immediately from an ion storm so long as you're not in combat as it doesn't actively damage you.
