AutoFire Switch Off?

How do you switch off autofire?

I pressed the buitton that says autofire and one of the guns was still yellow.

Sure enough it fired on its own and killed my two crew men on the enemy ship.

My favourite run of FTL ruined.

There's a hotkey for it, I think V. Also, you may have to click on the weapon and right-click to make it not fire.

Pressing CTRL while shooting does the opposite what is your autofire setting, but only for the selected weapon. That probably happened to you.

So, if you have autofire ON and use CTRL+fire, then that weapon fires just a single shot. In case you have autofire OFF and use CTRL+fire, then that selected weapon gets autofire ON until you cancel it.

Also... remember that all guns shoot still once after you turned autofire OFF. Turning autofire OFF stops the guns, but only after they have fired once. It doesn't cancel the current shot.

And tl clarify further, right clicking while aiming a weapon will cancel it from firing, whatever the autofire status.
