Checking the data files shows that.
But even within said tier rewards can vary.
You could get 15 scrap for blowing up a ship whilst getting 14 if you boarded for example. But more often then not, you'll get more scrap by killing the crew, not to mention the special rewards mentioned above.
The same goes for excepting surrender "always" giving less scrap. Not talking about possible augments and such, just raw scrap. They've got different reward tags.
It's difficult to quantify exact amounts, because it varies a lot and includes a lot of useful rewards that aren't a direct scrap increase. Some fights will give you the same reward whether you kill the crew or the ship, some simply give a direct higher tier reward ('high' scrap versus' medium' scrap).
Most, however, give you a random reward that can be: identical, higher tier, extra fuel, free weapon, or free crew.
At some point I might do some more testing to try and determine something more accurate, but I think "about 15% better" is a reasonable estimate. (Notably, it was also higher before Advanced Edition, where I was estimating it to be about 25%.)
that sounds right. At one point, boarding got a littel nerfed b/c it was jsut too strong. Still, its a good high-risk high-reward build for a ship. boarding + some way to mimize damage makes a pretty strong ship.
course , you nned actual dmg weapons to winthe game though (w/ the boss "auto-pilot". I distinctly remeber that one boarding game i had, and that popped up on the screen. yeah.)
There isn't a direct relation to hull damage, and you don't get less scrap so long as there is any hull left at all (i.e. you killed the crew instead of destroying the ship). And of course you can't kill unmanned ships (or the flagship) by killing off its crew.
