Torus I hate this ship :(((

Not sure why but I abhor the Torus, turned off AE to see if it will make a difference but seriously there are times when this ship is a complete headache...I've had fights where their defense drone continuously knocks down my ion weapon making it impossible to kill...fights where they had multiple defense drones destroying my attack drone...this is all in the first sector as well. Once in a while you get lucky and fight a auto pilot drone with no shields, but I hate this ship
:((((. One single missile on your ammo room stops you from attacking with your Ion as well...

just keep plugen through once you get it you really get it and its so fun. I still play EZ and love it to death and have a boat load of hours on it to prove it. I am just now ready to play on normal and I have over 1K hours. But I am a totaly caus gamer, love binge watching a series and blasting the galaxy... keep playing and all ships will start to shine as you get to know them.

Finally completed game with Torus but not on AE...even with awful RNG on the last 2 sectors, with 1 repair station near after getting pwned in Sector 7 having to fight the boss with 15 hp, finishing with just 2 hp, two combat drones ftw. Also it was on my first try non AE I think that proves Torus is in the bottom end tier for AE ships. The ship has too many eggs in one basket, forcing specific items to be needed, instead of being able to embrace variance like the well rounded Kestrel.

I had a nightmare of a time with that bucket of garbage, too. We've got the ion blaster, which does no damage and fires one shot. Why the hell would I want that? Oh, so my one drone can continuously shoot the wrong parts of the ship? Just give me the weapons and I'll handle it.

I hated the Torus, mostly because in addition to that garbage loadout I also have terrible luck with stores. Nobody ever sells any actual weapons, just heal bombs and fire bombs and all kinds of junk I REALLY don't need. Couple of Burt Laser MK II with prett much anything you've got the power for slapped on is is all it takes to end this game. Well that and a teleporter.

But no, we've got all sorts of drones that just beat around the bush as a matter of course. WHat good are they? Even defense drones are stupid. It's like betting against yourself with your shields and evasion. You're betting that you won't make either of those saves, and the stupid robot is going to.......do what? Shoot down a missile or two? We can take the hit, I need the guns to make sure the enemy cannot. Best defense =- good offense, you know?

Not to worry, for backup we've got the Engi, just to make sure our defense is as bad as our offense. Now, in addition to our weapons being masters of slow, aimless killing imprecision, we have to blow all the air out of the ship and put everyone in the Med-bay to survive boarding. Because that's exactly what this pice of **** needs; nobody at the helm or on the engines for about twenty seconds. No wonder they need defense drones.

Bah! I'm just ranting at this point, but I feel your pain.

Torus is an awful ship compared to others, I've never won with it ever, mainly because I hate it so much I avoid it.

I still haven''t found a winning formula, (hence I'm finally coming to the forums) but it didn't take guides and discussions to realise I've never made my high scores list with a torus.

The nightmare of beating the game with Torus is worth the awesomeness of the Lanius, having so much fun starving poor Mantis ships of oxygen :)). Haven't unlocked Stealth ships but I've heard they are a pain as well.

It's one of the best ships in the game? You start with Ion Blast II and 2 Engies and a Human and a drone system. That's all great, and the medi bots are useful too (also good for scrap if you don't think you need them).

Its only real problem is relying on a combat drone early.

The B layout for Torus is more fun until you get to sector 2 and somehow get boarded by a 4 man party :(. That lone Engi has some real metal balls trying to take on the Rebels alone...I should name him Han Solo since his only friends are R2D2 and C3PO, but seeing as Han Solo was a rebel not sure if appropriate....

Where did you find this LOL. I should name my Engi on the Mantis ship Hutz... poor guy is scrambling around the entire ship fixing everything while his crewmembers are off boarding.

Torus is a good middle-tier ship and easily brought up to good enough to finish the flagship. Engi C is slightly better because of the Defense Scrambler.

They're both reasonable, average-ish ships, with only Engi B being truly awful.
