Speaking of which, i've never had anything "happen" in those sectors. I just encounter a few ships (like 3 to 5) and empty beacons (yes I do jump to as many beacons as possible).
...Then they nuked my Oxygen and teleported on board. That ended my run pretty fast.
They can be pretty nasty if they're in sector 6-7. Gigantic Lanius ships with teleporters and ♥♥♥♥-tons of weapons and mind control (and a clone bay in the miraculous case that you kill the boarders) are really, really awful.
The "Lanius Bomber" is particularly monstrous. Destroy it quickly if you run into it.
Yes, but by sector 6 you really should be able to punch through 4 shield bubbles and still deal heavy damage to a single system (weapons in this case). If not, your build isn't really good for sec7 or last stand.
Which means your first barrage is probably going to be aimed at weapons.
This means that there will be two Lanius invaders roaming free on your ship, along with one of your own crewmembers helping them, while you're doing this. Good luck if they're in your weapons room.
(If you have hacking or mind control this gets a lot easier to deal with, but the repelling strategy is NOT to kill them, but to reduce their HP to the point they teleport back to their home ship. Since they can't heal, they won't come back, and the teleporter will be tied up for a while before they send the next two. Which they will if the fight lasts long enough. The problem becomes prioritizing whether you keep their weapons down, or try to stop the boarding nonsense. And of course if you have 2+ Lanius crew yourself AND hacking/MC these ships are a snap but that's not that common.)
Since no other kind of sector has ships that present this level of problem (except some super nasty automated ships) and the rewards are pretty weak in Lanius sectors, I generally try to avoid them in sector 6-7. Even those giant Mantis/Rock bomber ships are nowhere near this nasty. The only thing I hate even almost as much are the big Slug ships with all 2 square rooms that are a nightmare to board.
