Flagship hacks your weapons.
How often does the flagship hacks your weapons system in your runs? Happend to me now the third time in a row. Very frustrating if you specialised in weapons and not boarding because you are dead in the first second you see the flagship without any chance to fight it.

it hacked my weapons once. just jump out of combat and return and it will hack something else. probebly stupid stuff like sensors, doors or the medical bay...

Hm. Good idea! It gives at least some hope but I guess good powered engines and/or stealth are necessary, too. To survive till the FTL is charged. :-)

It is completely random. If you have 7 systems, it would have a 1/7 chance, if you have 4 systems, it would be a 1/4 chance, so on.
So in reality, backup battery is a good thing to have.

Unless you can hack the flagship's hack room, that hack module is staying on your weapons.

But I always go with a teleporter centric attack, so I generally don't mind if it lands on weapons.

Yeah, hacking back works too. Had it even installed in my last run. But didn't spend enough power levels on hacking to disable the Flagship's hacking system long enough to bring up my weapons system to full power.

But if the hacking target is indeed random - as nobody experienced so far similar bad runs - than I guess my 3 runs were only bad luck. Thank you all for your feedback!

It didn't destroy the enemy hack module? I always thought that happened when you hacked their hack module.

This time it didn't. Perhaps it destroys the enemy hacking system only if you have more power in your hacking system?

4th run in a row and again the Flagship disables weapons system in the "first second" of the encounter with his hacking drone. Luckily this time I had enough power in my own hacking system and indeed the Flagships hacking drone got destroyed by it!

All 4 runs where the Flagships instantly hacks my weapons systems were performed with the Federation Cruiser Type A. Perhaps that Flagship hacking behaviour is specific to this type of ship as some kind of counter against the Type A's beam weapon?

Nevertheless this time i was victorious! :ftlmantis:

No, the Flagship's hacking behavior doesn't depend on the ship, or any other factors. It's entirely possible for the Flagship to hack something mostly harmless like your sensors, doors, oxygen, or backup battery, even on Hard mode.

We have reason to believe it picks a room uniformly at random (each room has the same chance to get hacked); maybe the developers can clarify this someday but until then that's the operating assumption.

Congratulations on the victory; hope for many more in the future!

Yeah, hacked shields are the worst.
That's a heavy damage guarantee, if not a straight up loss. :(

Losing piloting is the worst. You can lose all evade for like 15 seconds, so you just take every hit from missles, lasers, ions, and the beam

But rather lose evade over shields because shields regenerate. (very fast with crew).

That's why you upgrade piloting, so you can survive a hit on them XD
