Why is this game so damn hard?
Trying to play on EASY. Never completed it. It would be totally ok for me not being rewarded with some leet loot but for ♥♥♥♥♥ SAKE I just want complete it ONCE!

I really play many games, if I want a challenge I can try Medium or Hard. God even Dark Souls is easier...

But right now I just want to delete this game so hard! Right from my game library because it isnt beatable by a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of luck!

It's not that "hard". I believe it mostly knowledge based, so the more you learn and more you experience the easier it will get.

I will personally walk you through one on one.

I am $0.00 an hour.

it gets easier with three things:

learning the events, so you know what the potental risks and gains are.

learning how to captain your ship, what weapons you like, and how to use your systems effectively.

and lastly, unlocking new ships. different ships start with different equipment, perhaps talored more to how you play.

Because that way the game takes awhile to beat, not a two-second lame-game that isn't worth the ten dollars.

It gets easier as you keep sucking at it, until... suddenly and against all odds, you beat it, then you start not sucking anymore. What did it for me is keeping a ballance between defense (upgrading my engine some and training my pilot and engineer for evasion, and upgrading my shield (i always go all the way to lvl 4 with shields) and training my shields operator) and offense (having a good assortment of weapons and/or drones, along with training the weapons operator). with some luck, you will be able to get some very good, energy efficient weapons to beef up your ship.

If you haven't already, look up some strategy guides. FTL is tough, but it's definitely not impossible when you train yourself what to look out for.
i already beat the game 3 times in a row on normal difficulty.

the game is only hard when you don't know what you're doing.

once you learn all the tricks, know when to pause, what system to shoot at and what weapon/drones combos work, its not a hard game

lol i feel the same but then i saw what the other people were saying that you just need to know what your doing. like 1 time i was playing and i was doing so good (equipment wise) then got to the flag ship and itcompletely destroyed me. i have never raged so much harder in my life...lol

The game is very, VERY hard when you first start.

The more familiar you get with the nature of how the game works, and the more you're willing to work with those mechanics as you learn them, the less difficult it becomes. When the game was still more obviously in the public eye, there was a streamer who ran through every single variant of every single ship on hard, back to back, without losing a single run.

It is POSSIBLE, with some ships, to get unlucky enough to hit an unwinnable run, but it's AT LEAST 90% winnable, and higher if you're using stronger ship (like the Kestrel A, which you start off with) or playing on a lower difficulty than hard.

I really appreciate every answer and i know for sure, that the game isn't impossible. But on "easy" it should be easy. Especially if the player needs to learn the tricks and mechanics. I got some decent weapons, rescued some good members, got drones and stuff and even upgraded the ship. And then by nowhere a fat ship rises and shoots me down in three seconds.

It is the angle of difficultness that i cant handle. This is totally OK if I want to beat the game on hard - but not on easy. Thats my point i am trying to make. I want learn every bit of the game, but at some moment the game does not permit that. Sometimes i speedpause the game 100 times to figure out the good next step and everything goes totally wrong because they are way stronger.

On Youtube I didnt saw a video where you win the game by "understanding how the game works". You need a truckload of luck. On Easy.

It requires experience, I started playing the game again recently (I was trash back in 2013) and after 150 guides or so and 307 games, I have begun repeatedly killing the flagship.
it really is easy on "easy" difficulty when you get to know the game.

hell, normal is starting to become easy for me and im gonna move on to hard soon

It's becoming popular to make easy to be hard in rogue-like games. This trend is aggrivating.

If easy was easy, I would play hard.

as i said before. to a seasoned player who knows what he is doing EASY is REALLY EASY.

the amount of scrap rewards you get are insane and the ships are weak in comparison to normal and hard.

you can't expect to beat a rouge-like on your first few runs. EASY difficulty is there so you can learn all the game's aspects and strategies. and get you into its mindset.

once you beat the game on easy once and realize what you're doing is really becomes a very easy difficulty.

you play on hard when you mastered the game.
