Average Value of a Random Weapon

I'm wondering if anyone actually has done the math on this. Since I'm not sure whether the various weapons in a "random weapon" award are purely random or if some weapons are rarer than others, I wonder if it's worth the 45 scrap that the black market weapons dealer encounter has.

I know it's rarely a straight scrap/weapon value analysis, because often you're either really desperate for a weapon or have no need for any more. It would just be helpful in deciding when to go for that weapons purchase and when to just attack the guy.

The Black Market Nebula Trader is virtually never worth using not fore the price, but because half the time they'll steal your money and give you nothing. in the Balance Mod[www.it-is-law.com] I drop the price by 5 and make it so they give you the weapon most of the time to make this event more worth considering.

As far as random weapons in general - they are random but weighted by weapon rarity. So you're very likely to get a Flak I, but not very likely to get a Burst II and even less likely to get a Glaive.

I got a Halberd Beam from the event once, and it was pretty nice. Then again, it stole my money once and attacked me another time.

If you intend to try to use it to obtain a weapon, then having mind control gives a blue option to reveal the intent of the other ship without the risk of losing scrap, at the expense of being able to just attack it if he truly does intend to sell a weapon... It apparently also offers you the option to 'see' the weapon.

If you have Mind Control, you can ask him what weapon he is trying to sell.
