You can check the galaxy map at start of a run ~ look for routes that cover a lot of hostile sectors in a row, especially sectors 5-8.
If the RNG spawns a poor layout, it might be better to restart the run until you find a route that covers at least 3 hostile sectors towards the end (5-8). Routes featuring branches that both lead to hostile sectors are also good to look out for.
That's a joke, but it seriously seems that way.
I'd suggest start-scumming and looking at the map as you go for Sector 2. Is there a bunch of red? Is there a route that gives you red on every sector? Are there branching routes with two reds? If not, just say ♥♥♥♥ it and restart.
Same applies for trying for the Ancestry achievement, one of the most ridiculous and luck-based Achievements in the game.
(Totally ninja'ed there but keeping the post so you can see the opinion expressed just above is more or less the opinion of everyone who has had to think about this.)
2 answers saying similar things is much better than 1 (possibly BS) response, imo. :)
There should be a Like button so I don't have to just post +1.
P.S. Oh, and there also should be World Peace. Fat chance... :D
