Highly respectable reason, I'd say, though I do get your frustration. It really is baffling how few tries there's been at 'FTL-likes' give what a stonking great success the original was by indie standards.
Otherwise, Into the Breach by the FTL devs is a fantastic follow-up. Different sort of game, of course, but there's a lot of shared DNA.
I do understand it's not the same as getting an actual sequel, but it does soothe the sorrow of not having one
I believe the game he's referencing is called "Trigon: Space Story". I just watched a review of it today from Worth A Buy on YouTube. It honestly looks extremely similar but with modern graphics. Nice looking game, early access though and I don't believe you can even play it yet.
Thanks, Trigon looks beautifull !
Also like someone else mentioned, mods like Captains Edition(FTL 2.5) and Multiverse(overhaul) are worth checking out.
Ho yes, it looks fun
MV is just that good! It can do new things! Like add new species, which allows for CREW VARIANTS!
yes i like mv a lot
I disagree about the "shared DNA" part.
Into The Breach is not at all like FTL and both games have basically nothing in common.
Personally I didn't like Into The Breach nearly as much.
If you like puzzle games, yeah, go for it.
Otherwise you'll be disapointed.
Crying Suns is excellent, but has its own flaws. The gameplay is VERY similar to FTL but more 'overhead' as of managing your troops and crew (and fleet) in a broader sense, rather than direct crew battles or some ♥♥♥♥ mistaking a generator for a water cooler.
As previous posts say, the "DNA" of the games are all there. Into the Breach, FTL, Crying Suns, Trigon, even Risk of Rain. They share similar elements.
But each has its own that makes it different.
If you want a game similar to FTL, I would go for Crying Suns. But no game is perfect. It has its problems. It isnt perfect. Whether you look at narrative or gameplay or balance or anything inbetween. But I found it an excellent in-between similar title.
I played crying sun I found the game also.
I like it, but I need this FTL feeling I had ! Maybe I will never find it again
It's basically an alpha version of FTL but the crew is run by players and is hosted via servers.
