Any tips for boarding drone achievement? (1 drone kills 4 crew)
It would be easy if it just said kill 4 crew members with boarding drones but to have 1 do it without dying is tricky. I think maybe pairing it with a fire beam or missile could work but then I run the risk of the fire killing the crew instead of the drone. I'm willing to make a run dedicated just for that achievement so it doesnt matter if I lose afterwards so would mantis cruiser B work since I can send my mantis to weaken them and let the drone finish the job?

One that always works is just finding a ship with 4 crew and no medbay, weakening them to the point of near death, and then letting the drone finish them. This is easiest if you use something like Mantis B with 4 Mantis, pick a ship with 4 humans or at least 4 100 health enemies, send over all 4 into a 4 square room, and get them all near death. Again it can be a bit tricky especially if you have to fight the ship at the same time, especially if the results cause enemies to leave the room. The trickiest thing really is not to kill any of them, while leaving them all near death.

The best 4 square room is shields because they will prioritize it. Then you can have the boarding drone elsewhere in the ship during the weakening part of the fight and they won't go to fight it. Even better if the drone is in a 2 square room, because another trick is making sure the drone is in a 2 square room. Even 4 weakened enemies ganging up on your drone might finish it. But if you send the drone into a 2 square room and then power it off while you fight, it'll end up in a vacuum filled room that the enemy won't enter. When you power it back on, it may be headed toward a 4 square room. So it's important the drone be in a 2 square room with oxygen at the time you end the weakening part.

I've also got this on those miserable ships with nothing but 2 square rooms. These are usually terrible but fairly good for this achievement.

And if I remember correctly, this doesn't always actually trigger on 4 deaths. Sometimes it's 5. Plus it has to be the FIRST drone you send that does this. So no spamming drones. And I can't remember whether or not clones count. I could swear I've got this on killing a clone on a ship with a clone bay, but a search of the archives here says the opposite. I don't have screenshots so it didn't happen.

AAAAAHHHHH WAS SO CLOSE TWICE. First time the last guy decided to suffocate himself in the breach the drone did when drone wasnt in there and the 2nd time my mantis accidentally killed one of the guys.

IIRC clones do count. The only thing clones don't count for is combat skill. So one can't farm that skill vs a ship with clone bay.

Opposite, clones still count as kills.

but do they count for achievement?

IT DIDNT HAPPEN ON 4 DEATHS :steamsad:

Bonus: I got it from an engi ship with clone bay and farmed the clones with to get it so getting it with clone bay is possible

Well done. How did you get the drone past the defense drones?

I had a 4 man mantis squad attack them and broke it with them but they fixed it before I could realize it so I destroyed it with a teleportation bomb

Nah. You are welcome to try to farm combat training from clones. Won't work.

They count as kills for achievement hes saying not skill farming

Well, that is what I said.
(Edit: I skipped the post in which the OP declared success. Good job!)

This I think is the hardest achievement. I did runs just trying to get this achievement, and had so many battles where I got close but couldn't get the last enemy crew.

You can't control where the drone breaches the ship and how it paths through rooms, so there is a lot of randomness involved that you can't really control. You can't completely control the drone's path once it is inside the ship, though if your other boarders destroy other systems, then the drone will go after operational systems.

Well placed fires and breaches can be used to try to push enemy crew to engage the drone, but fires in particular run the risk of killing the enemy before your drone does.

I don't think you need to try to consider what enemy ship makes the perfect target. If you are chasing this achievement, you are taking a shot at every enemy ship with at least 4 crew. The achievement is so hard to pull off and so subject to random factors, the best way to play the odds is just play in volume and try every single time.

When I finally got it, of course I played it as smart as I could, but there was a lot of luck involved in actually getting it.
