Flickering Graphics
So I downloaded this to play on my gfs laptop while I wait for my new PC parts to arrive and the entire display flickers horribly, text is unreadable and it makes the game unplayable.
Any idea why and a fix for it? For reference I've also downloaded XCOM and dlc and those work perfectly well, and other games on the internet like runescape run perfectly acceptably.

I've tried 2 fresh installs and multiple verify game files actions. Interestingly it always says "1 file could not be validated and will be reacquired, however it doesn't say which one, and each time you verify it says the same.

I also confirm this is an issue. The only thing that seemed to fix it was changing the resolution to "Fullscreen: On (Native)" in the options (which is barely visible, it's the top right option and will require a restart. Playing on any other resolution will create the green flickering.

I've played it on this computer before and I've never had an issue with it, but I also haven't played it in a couple months.

Disable overlays (steam, discord, rivatuner, etc). Update drivers. Run game as administrator. Run game in windowed mode.

how would I go about doing these?

I forced overlays off in properties and that didnt work, drivers are all already up to date, no idea how to change to windowed or admin mode

Edit the .ini file to put the game in windowed mode.

"The answer, it turns out is "settings.ini" is the file generated by the in-game preferences and, unusually, this file is stored in the installation path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\FTL Faster Than Light "

If that stops the flickering, you can move the game window so it fills the whole screen using some program that can do that automagically, like autosizer (freeware program), found here:

either that or the aspect ratio, it was fullscreen with thick black borders around it

That's the fullscreen stretch option then. It's not an ideal solution because you aren't using the full screen.

The "Limit FPS" ON setting caused this flickering problem in my case. It didn't happen every time, but from what I saw, Alt+Tabbing caused it to start. VSync didn't change anything, but with the FPS limiter OFF, the problem is gone.
