Editing game files

is it possible to edit a current save to change the amount of scrap or upgrades, and if yes can i give myself weapons from the start?

yep the save editor can edit your crew, weapons, augments, scrap, etc..

just google it and you'll find it for sure

What are you talking about? FTL profile editor works just fine.

It works with both the profile and the current run savefile. They're clearly tabbed and separated.
