Hi all. I just had the bug where my computer crashing wiped all my progress. (Weirdly, it shows that I have some B ships unlocked, but not the A versions! It remembers my achievements, but not my victories or my unlocked ships!) I'm looking at the profile editor, but it says to find the "ftl.app" or "data.dat" file (I have an FTL.dat?), which doesn't seem to exist in my install. Any suggestions about where to chase it down? Or what I'm misunderstanding?

Feel free to give me the captain dummy talk version. :ftlhuman:

Try this one instead of the one you downloaded.

The... really old version of the one I downloaded? Okay, I'll give it a go...

If that doesn't work... forgive me for giving you a kind of work around:

https://sourceforge.net/projects/ftleditor/files/v27/FTLProfileEditor_v27-Win.zip/download

I tried this one with steam version of FTL and it worked.

Thanks! I don't know what worked in the end, but something has. :slimehappy:

Because the old version doesn't understand the new datafile format.

Yeah, I was using the latest version to begin with, v27 (the latest one I could find anyway). I take that for granted when something doesn't work: make sure you have the latest version. Not quite that daft! :slimehappy:

I think in the end what fixed it was actually moving my install to the same partition and default location. After that it picked it up automatically, but when I had to search for the directory on the F partition, it just wasn't accepting it. Normally it doesn't seem to matter, but in this case... *shrug*
