Chain shots with weapon Preigniters are brutal though. main thing wrong with the gun is it taks 21 seconds to get the first volley off, but if they come pre-ignitited that shaves 21 seconds off your killing spree rate of fire.
checks. the game has a 4 power vulcan gun, which takes 11 seconds to fire, and then gets faster until it takes 1 second to fire. if you have limited weapon slots two of these can burn thru an enemy vessel. for 8 power. Would recommend pre-igniting and faster fire rate improvement pieces.
if you don't have limited weapon slots, 4 Flak I guns fire reasonably rapidly and do enough damage to burn thru shields.
an ideal loadout of the initial ship. gonna say 4 flak 1's. 2 drones, one on offense one on defense, and one in storage for hull repair.
a drone recovery arm and you should be golden.
However, winning FTL is about being flexible and making do with what you have, so there are definitely situations where you'd pass up a Burst 2 even if you can afford it.
I should hope. Flak I, Burst Laser II, and Halberd Beam are the three best buyable/findable weapons in the game.
Also correct. But that energy consumption really brings down the Vulcan and Glaive Beam. In fact, I'd actually consider the Vulcan to be below average because it takes some 39 seconds to spin up and start chewing through enemy ships. The Glaive Beam is certainly above average, but it requires extensive support to make it work in a run. Hacking 3 on shields, ions, something. And the ability to stay more or less unharmed for 24 seconds or so.
Starting with both, as Stealth A does, is one of the best set of starting weapons in the game.
For scalability, the Red-Tail is probably the best. And you can actually win with the Red-Tail's opening set of 4 Basic Lasers fairly easily if you combine strong defense with L3 hacking.
I think the biggest weakness of the Stealth A set up is that it has only 3 weapon slots. Both the Mini-Beam and Dual Laser are good, but there's no really good 3rd weapon that will carry you for the rest of the game. The Burst 3 or Flak 2 will work, but both have such long coolsdowns that it effectively limits your starting weapons to that speed for most of the fight.
If we're talking about weapons you can't buy though, the Lanius B's Adv Flak is probably the best, bar none. 1 energy, super fast cool down, 3 projectiles.
Stealth C has more or less exactly this issue. Those 1 power weapons are great for starters but you aren't usually going to be able to keep them until the end. Stealth C has nearly exactly the same weapons except a Charge I (that only costs 1 power) instead of Dual Lasers, which is just a hair better because it's more flexible.
