Pirate faster than light?

How about a sea adventure where instead of space ships, we have... you know.. ships?
Oxygen is replaced with water so breaches will make the room get submerged.. Instead of beam weapons, we get cannons that shoot a line of cannon balls instead.. Boarding would need a boarder room which allows crew members to use a rope to swing to the enemy ship..

It would be awesome.

hmm, it would need to do enough to be different then FTL, but it could work.

as for FTL not in space, there is convoy. but thats cars, not boats, and its still a science fiction future setting.

Look up "Abandon Ship". Seems to be influenced by FTL and maybe Sunless Sea. The game is in devlopment now.

What i want is just a reskin on FTL but with a sea and pirate theme to it.. Why fix something that ain't broken. I just want the same turd painted blue.

They do have mods that give you a tank and changes the back ground to match a tank so it's definitely possible to have a ship ocean reskin.

Someone made a mod similar to this idea, but it was not well refined

Sometimes i play in "Guns of Icarus" (one of my favourite games), its steampunk airships multiplayer game where you are one of crew in battle blimp, there are components damage like in ftl (destroyed baloon will make you ship fall down, damaged gun rotate slower; destroyes dont work at all, etc.) diffrence is, you are crewmember, but as a capitan of your ship you can give your crewmembers orders (sometimes they dont listen because you know... they are humans).
only problem is that most of times there are 2-3 servers on entire world and always there is no more than ~100 players online, but none of them are toxic and most of them are adults so playing with them is really fun, there is link:
