Another thing about data transfer between mac/pc
So my mac (where I played FTL originally) is starting to show her age, so I just started playing on my PC (windows 10) to find that none of my progress is synced. The lack of steam cloud sync between mac and PC is understood. Looking through the data files, I noticed that the PC's "ftl.dat" and the mac's "resource.dat" are of very similar file size. What I thought I would do was transfer the "resource.dat" and replace the existing "ftl.dat" on my PC's files, renaming it. I did this and then the game won't launch. When I take the "resource.dat" (now renamed "ftl.dat") and remove it, restoring the original "ftl.dat", the game works fine again, but still no saved progress.

Any ideas, friends?

MAC and Windows aren't coded the same, so of course a MAC file isn't going to be read correctly on a Windows OS, and vice versa.

Why do you think "Windows" versions of games have compatiblity issues on MAC OS?

Omg, it was painful to read.
You need to find ae_prof.sav instead of messing with game data files which are of course incompatible and of course can't contain your save :steamfacepalm:

"Similar file size" - didn't think that size is too much for save data? They don't store entire universe.
