Any good working save editors?
It's been a while since I've played this game, and while a challenge can be fun I'd like to beat it some day. It's one thing for a game to be hard in the aspect of simply needing to practice and learn, that's fine, and while at least it's not a bullet sponge difficulty, this game's difficulty is neither of those and instead completely based on random luck and knowing how to take advantage of that.
And since I'm ♥♥♥♥ with random luck, I have to relly on a save editor.
Save me the prattle about "cheating ruins your fun even if it's only single player." I've put in enough hours trying to beat the game normally and failing every time that I want to have at least the advantage of unlimited money, fuel, rockets, etc.

I was going to use the one on NEXUS but it didn't work the last time I tried it.
So are there any good ones out there that still work?

And for the record I'm not looking for anything that auto gives achievements or auto unlocks all the ships.
I just want to be able to store weapons for later runs as well as save up scrap rockets fuel, etc.

How many hours have you played? This game takes a very, very long time to beat. I had 150 games played before my first win. I have nearly a thousand now, and I haven't even beat hard. (Got every ship a while ago though) you should keep playing, and start having fun losing. And yes I know this doesn't answer your question, but I don't know the answer.

hours? Not sure. I mostly play first person games like Elder Scrolls where I find loot and play the singular hero and have a homebase and etc. I haven't played this game in nearly a year so I'm messing about a little but, i really like the idea of using Docking Bay Mod where I can store loot and have a slight edge. I know there are random events where you have to get super lucky to actually complete them so I'd like a chance to do that.

There are no events like that. Ship quests have a bunch of requirements, and therefore are more trouble to get, but their are no nearly impossible events. Their are always good options, they just don't always work. Play the game, read some tutorials and you'll get it eventually

FTL profile editor has worked for me for years.

You could use Superluminal 2 ship editor to set up any ship however you want.
Save the ship as ftl file, than load it with slipstream mod manager.

Alright I'll take a look at it.

Is something like this what you want?

@edit
Is this the one from nexus? Why isn't it working, what does it say?

i dont know enough to say exactly what's wrong with it, but it crashes and freezes and stuff.
It's a really cool one that's easy to use but sadly does not work and has probably been abandoned, most likely the creator either doesn't know or doesn't care anymore.

The author seems to be active on nexus, you could always ask. Or just paste whatever errors you get here, maybe someone can tell you something.

Yeah, don't.
This game is rogue like and epic for the perma death. You can be careful and watch out for your crew, but everytime you send an away party you risk them not returning.
Tried it a few times at a mates before I bought it, but I think it took less than 5 runs before I finally completed it, however it wasn't with the kestrel the first time.
Currently I have nearly all A type's unlocked, a chunk of B type's, and a couple of C type's, and completed the game with several different ships and play styles, but you just have to wing it.
Don't plan far ahead, just deal with it all on the fly, make your plan on the go and commit to it.
I know the GOG version you could copy the save file so if you did die, just close it and throw the old save back in and load it up again, but that's just as cheap as modding it, you'll get more enjoyment playing it vanilla. Try the Engi ship, she's not shabby, but I do find the Kestrel to be the hardest to win with, especially first time.
Im at 41 plays, 6 wins. All my wins are on easy, but Im not ashamed of that. I have all but the slug and crystal ships unlocked and I have all A, B, and C on about half of the ones I have. This game isnt *really* luck based even though a good portion of the game is luck. You can start a run thinking "Okay, gonna get these things and beat the boss" because you never know what you will find. Figure out good combinations of weapons and swap liberally if something isnt working out. If you feel like youre getting hit too much or your weapons fire too slow in S2-3, try sitting in an asteroid field with an automated ship or a ship with beam weapons to increase their skills. This game is far from impossible, you just have to think like a spaceship pilot on a suicide mission. Even if you do use a save editor/mods (I was thinking about downloading an endless mode mod), you should still try it Vanilla sometimes :)

EDIT: Oh and the Kestrel is by far the hardest ship, besides maybe the stealth cruiser imo

What? It has no flaws. It's not hard at all.

Engi B
Rock A+B
Slug B
Zoltan B+C

All of these are way harder to get going with, along with all the stealth ships.

I stated in my opening post that I don't care about playing fair/vanilla/not cheating myself, I want to play the game with the mod manager, I don't need people telling me wah don't cheat, you'll ruin it for yourself. I know what cheating does. It's why in my favorite game Quake I don't anymore.
Which is why I'm i'm looking for an edge against the completely randomized loot ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that I hate so I can beat it at least once on easy.
I'm not looking for god mode or anything like that. sheesh.

Also for the record I'm trying to play through with the zoltan ship? the one with the extra shield which i think is probably lame after the first few areas. I do also like the engie ships.

It's not lame. It stops hacking, MC and missiles, and that's *after* evade check. Cloak + hacking + zoltan shield = enemies can't do anything to you.
