Whats up with Nesasio? No shields? WTF. Im getting killed by enemy drones and asteroid fields.
Taking major hull damage, I have no shields. Drones and weapon hits, I can cloak but the cooldown is WAY longer than the frequency of enemy and drone strikes

Well duh. Don't go into asteroid fields. Not only do they have asteroids, but they have more automated ships with drones.

It's not like it doesn't come with Long Range Scanners that tell you what sectors to avoid.

cloak under shots, use your precise and efficient weapons, consider not cloaking until a drone is pointing at a vital system. Save that scrap to buy shields at store
Ships without shields tend to have quite a tough time during the first sector, however once you get shields near the end of sector one you should be fine imo. Playing the game on easy makes it significantly easier

You have the silver lining of laughing hysterically whenever you encounter a shield virus rebel auto ship event.
And yes, your high level engines let you dodge incoming shorts fairly decently, well better than the DA SR-12 and its papier mache laser of doom, that is. You can't dodge beams, but you can stall them out for a while, and do get a decent third weapon, those starting ones are going to become useless on their own faster than you might expect.

idk if anyone else experiences this but i actually find that upgrading cloak early has helped me a ton with destroying ships without taking damage in the first sector or two. at least until i can get my hands on shields at a shop. On top of that, i do find it more useful to wait to cloak until after they fire missiles (or lasers if they dont have missiles) that way you can guarantee that the missile will miss and give yourself extra time to charge up your own weapons without the concern that they will be firing on you as soon as you run through your cloak.
Spend your very first 30 scrap on Lvl 2 Cloaking.

This allows you to laugh at ships with drones as you can cloak immediately; when your cloak finishes you can attack their weapons room.

Lvl 3 cloaking isn't so neccessary, but it's not bad and certainly you should get it if you're not saving up for shields.

In my last Stealth A run, I only got Shields in S3... but I also recall getting some decent weaponry that I wanted to power up (as with lvl 3 cloaking and some stuff like Flak you can cloak at beginning of fight (to avoid beams charging) + annhilate their weaponry.

P.S. Out of all the Stealth ships, Stealth A is the "least worst," so to speak.

I think the stealth A is a tier 2 ship IMO. Never underestimate the power of long range scanners. You near guarentee never really needing to buy fuel since nearly every beacon will have something in it.

It can pull dives off as early as sector 1 due to it's cloak and high base engine level. It also always gets plenty of fuel which means diving is even better.

I find LRS overrated - they're still very handy - because they DON'T pick up the potential double-rewards of "You see an automated scout pursuing a civilian ship" among others.

The reason I'd place Stealth A in Tier 3 (out of 5 or maybe 6, 6 containing Engi B and Stealth C) is because its obtuse lack of shields leaves it very vulnerable if your shots miss the Drone Control (although the Beam helps with that).
Its starting weapons are also not amazing because you almost always need to switch them out. On any other ship they'd be totally amazing, and they're great for S1, but they're weak. As the Stealth A only has three weapon slots this makes it difficult to get buy with those two weapons + one other. (Or, of course, you get lucky like I did and find an Ion Blast II + Stealth Weapons....)
Its crew is also pretty awful.

Who needs to replace starting weapons?[i.redditmedia.com]

Seriously though, although having no shields suggests a difficult sector 1, the starting weapons absolutely devestate early sectors. Drones are still a huge risk, but I feel like being able to finish fights quickly and cloak to avoid missiles makes stealth A's start pretty reliable for me. Of course, they're not always something you keep long term, but I often find myself getting some use out of them because they're pretty power-efficient weapons, only problem is the weapon slots.

There is no need to switch out the starting weapons. I had a stealth A run lately that devestated the flagship with just the starting weapons and a flak 1 with hacking. The starting weapons are insanely good. The crew is not good though.

The long rang scanners are not over rated at all. If those double beacon rewards were worth so much, you would always go to empty beacons. They allow me to avoid dangerous areas my ship is not well suited for and give me so much fuel because of all the fights I get. This in turn allows me to dive more which gives me even more scrap starting in sector 1 if the exit beacon is far from the back of the sector.
