They gotta come to the medbay before they destroy your O2 otherwise you are dead. It is also possible to lose engis against mantis even if you are in the medbay. They will all shoot the same guy and even you win, you will lose crewmembers. Or they force you out of the medbay and you die in your own vented ship. In this encounter you are racing against time because the planet is blasting your ship to pieces every few seconds.
Two more things, keep one pilot engi in the helm, and reoxygenate the ship quickly as soon as you have them in the medbay.
With that, you can always jump away before the ASB (to the previously visited safe beacon if you're worried), and finish them off there. Your crew won't die in a 3v3 medbay fight once you're there, or you could vent them out while you run to drones or somewhere.
If executed well, there should be no chance of crew death or damage.
Your O2 shouldn't be out if handled properly, once you let them break engines and started getting hit you were screwed. Don't let that happen.

He's acting slighty more sane than usual and actually holding a decent discussion.
