I've had the same problem starting the game again after last years transition from Win7 to Win10 and noticed, my savegame after 20 hours of gameplay was corrupted. I was searching everywhere for a solution to fix, but couldn't find any clue, how to get back my old savegames.
And - starting then a new game, the game refused to save and kept telling me, that savegame is damaged, doesn't matter how many times i've tried to restart the game.

Now i finally found a solution, which works with Spider-Man 1 and 2 . I've had the Steam Cloud system turned off. Once i turned it on (Menue: Steam - Settings - Cloud ....) and make sure, in the properties of the games the cloud system is activated, too. After that both games started to save the game position again and any time restarting them, the last save position was there and no corrupt message appeared anymore.

Those Steam cloud savegames you won't find in c:\documents\activision\asm\save .... , instead search in ....\Steam\userdata\ and in there use the Explorer search function to look for the subfolder called "212580" and you can find the savegames in the "remote" folder.

In my case, i copied my old savegame from c:\documents\activition\asm\save to this "remote" folder and starting Spider-Man 1 my 20 hour game position was back and working.

Holy moly I think your solution worked! I just got the game today and wanted to try it and all of a sudden my save file was corrupted multiple times trying to make a new game and I have spent the last hour looking around online trying to fix it until I saw this. Thanks a lot! Btw, do you know if maybe I can look at the Extras tab on the main menu or will it delete my save file? I have seen A LOT of people say it was because they looked at the Extras tab before they left the game. I will be trying this later today when i get home though since I have literally just started the game so it wont be a big deal to test it out.

it's strange that this happens on windows 10-11 with intermittent crashes. I noticed a small frieze during attempts to autosave the game when selecting comics, magazines and other things. whereas with a crack from Skidrow, the game is quietly saved and does not crash. perhaps the problem of departures is just related to saving. it is a pity that there has not yet been an enthusiast who would solve this problem with the preservation of functionality from Steam
