Old graphics = bad.
Not that I even agree with this, but you'd be surprised how much "new = better" is automatically taken even though all signs point towards the Original 2 remaining leagues ahead.
Even in terms of "graphics", the Original is much more consistent. Especially looking at the characters and how exaggerated James's expressions are now.
Funny thing is that Konami lost original codes of the finished games, only pathetic betas they released in 2012 as "HD collection". And they revoiced characters, which is in itself an insane kind of insult. That's beyond fked up. Find original game on the internet and then apply Enhanced Edition.
Honestly you can very well ask the same thing for movies - why do we remake old good movies instead of old bad ones? Even though I agree it this would potentially be more interesting (and be less likely to be disappointing), the main thing the people who put money into making it are most likely worried about is, who would watch it? Would it not be far more likely that someone would skip a theatre ticket price for a remake of a movie where the original wasn't even that good to begin with, versus something they cared about?
True it was such a garbage. This dude nailed it back then.

I mean, I can't be optimistic about remake if they failed even with filthy HD. Just check all those details he mentiones. Silent Hill is all about small details. They screwed them in HD, don't think that current team will even care about them.
'We' - who? Film makers? - That's easy. Because they want to milk good francise and save on marketing. That's why they remake good movies. They do not care about bad ones.
Or 'we' - customers? I personally do not need remakes of my favourite movies. For what? I either like them or not. Do you need a remake of, let's say 'Godfather' or 'La Piovra'?
It will be different - that's the main point.
Very likely. They already ruined SH serie years ago, when they tried to turn it into RE. Maybe they hope that their 2nd attempt at copying RE will be more successful. I mean, modern RE audience is not very choosy, since CAPCOM is feeding them one remake after another by simply reselling reskin of the same game (RE2), so who knows.
If KONAMI will turn SH2 remake into another clone of RE2 remake (even good one) - is it what SH fanbase really wanted? - that's the question. I personally do not need another RE game.
That's great one, man.
We are on gaming forum, not on crisis hotline. We discuss games, not real life issues. So there is no need for these acid remarks. Same about my wording - we are not on philological faculty either.
Yes, that is the purpose of a ... wait for it.... REMAKE!
Also you all need to understand that companies don't make remakes for you; the fans of the original games. They create them for the new, modern audiences. This is the only way to sell these games to the new generations, and potentially keep the franchise alive for the upcoming decades.
