The PS5 version is objectively better in most ways, than the PC version (see Digital Foundary video)
So, take a look at this in-depth analysis of performance on the PS5 version of the game, from Digital Foundry:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x7gRyaCxe-8&t=1s

There will be another Digital Foundry video soon.

In short, save your money for the PS5 version.

I haven't bought the PC game, but I have played the PC version, shared from a friend's Steam account.

They may improve the performance of the PC version, but you'll need to be patient to see improvements to the way the game streams in data.

strange every body who have 2 versions says pc vrsions is night and day in quality, a freind have ps5 version and i can say to you, it's litteraly night and day like all ue5 games .....

they don't have stutters ok but they have low settings 1440p upscale dynamic less 30 fps sometimes or 1080p blurry 60 fps with huge dips sp what is better ?

Well the PS5 Pro is coming out in early November, and I'm sure they'll be a patch to optimise the game for that console as well. Much easier to optimise for 1 set of hardware, as they've done already with the PS5 version.

In the UK, I think the PS5 version is between £50-£55 so it's not cheap, unfortunately.

I guess it depends on personal preference. What matters to each player more, performance stability, or aesthetics and graphics? Both are valid.

Music is important too, hope to see an updated version of this song in a future patch:

I got to say, I see some stutters when I'm in a new area. But like, it's essentially gone after a minute or two. And, considering that the game mostly takes place within a few large locations, I'm not really finding the stuttering that I am seeing too distracting.
I think a shader pre-compilation step would be a great addition to the game. And maybe we'll get one. If you listen to the folks on this discussion board, you'd think that the game was abandonware after 3 days.
I am curious to see what DF says about the PC version, but to me the PS5 version seems like it has plenty of compromises. As typical with consoles (seriously, no hate intended), you have to choose between frame rate or image quality.

omg.....console fanboy your little 500 dollar console is not good enough to actually look better at all then a damn pc...... yes pc will cost more but with a pc you dont have to settle for 30fps at still lower graphics then a pc........

you can't compare a big gpu like 80 or 90 even 70 ti or super to ps5 or ps5 pro.

may be i have stutters on this game but i have much better quality image with my 4090 and 60 fps + in 4k epic settings.
may be on youtube you can't really see but in real life i can tell tou you the difference is massive

Yeah, it's not that bad. It's certainly playable, especially if hardware meets the recommended system requirements.

That video isn't a comparison, it's just the analisys of how it runs and looks on PS5. Most people don't get stutters (it's actually an issue UE5 has with some 12th and 13th gen CPUs), but the fundamental difference is, that he PS5 version visual quality is a lot inferior. I'd rather have better graphic quality, thank you very much, but I understand most console players never seen how good a game can look on PC
people still comparing poor consoles to pc master race? lol
cbdeakin Oct 11, 2024 @ 1:39pm
Personally I will probably revisit the PC version of the game at the end of the year, or whenever the developers can release an update to improve performance, specifically with a focus on shader compilation and loading data.

The PC version could potentially be better all around (assuming decent hardware), but with version 1.0 (is it 1.002?), it's not there yet.

only marginally related, but the comparison at 4m41s in that video is hilarious considering even in the ps2 version that screen shot is out of focus on purpose.

anyway, i fully expect ps5 / ps5 pro to run sh2r better out of the box and the PC version to require some user-end finagling down the line to end up looking marginally better than ps5 pro. silent hill is a playstation showcase franchise, when it comes down to it.

It does on quad and six cores, often, my friend is playing it on a Threadripper (12 cores) and a 4080 and he doesn't get stuttering, aside from when he gets in new areas, for a few secs, but that sounds like shaders compiling/loading

On PC you're only doing that with £1000+ GPUs
