What are these twinkling scenes?
Like, I run into some camera angles or some scene that sparks deja vu and the screen seem to twinkle. What's the purpose of these scenes? Ran into some of them.

Also, what are the objectives/use of the strange photos?

The "twinkling" is a scene from the original game. It's fan service.

Thank you! I was wondering the same myself, and couldn't think of how to Google opinions about it ("twinkling" not quite coming to mind, 'til I stumbled across this thread)!!

They are "glimpses of the past" and are supposed to represent moments in James' life and other memorable moments in Silent Hill. Like the shackles on the hospital bed for Alyssa. The chains on a door and bloody bandages for The Room. That kind of thing. That's why they don't always make sense for James.

This remake is certainly going the full hog where "Easter Eggs" are concerned! Which is very cool, of course :) (And yeah, I was noticing a lot of references to OTHER Silent Hill games...especially the first one, presumably 'cause they "skipped over" it.)

Most are for the first, but I am pretty sure some were for 3 and 4 but I could be wrong. A lot of the time I didn't know what I was looking at. XD

Yeah, ditto...hence why I looked at this thread! (Though I suspected it was something like this.) Cheers for shedding some light :)
