I'm not quite sure what to think about that ending - on one level, it's 'good', but on another I'm not really sure James does develop enough for me to justify it. The Maria ending is closer to how I see the 'what next...'.
In Water mostly involves letter James suffer when he is hurt. So if you heal up right away, you will usually get Leave. Blaming the man and using the rotten apple in their respective puzzles will also net you the In Water ending.
To get Maria's ending you have to not look at Mary's picture, NOT read the message above the jukebox that says James is going to the Bad Place, blame the woman in the one puzzle, visit her often in the Hospital and the Labyrinth, and use the ripe apple during another puzzle. Among other things but those are big point earners for that ending.
Idk i picked the snake to blame on "Hard" difficulty puzzles i dont really remember what the puzzle even said and i used the ripe apple yeah.
Also listened to her dialogue helped her whenever in trouble i dont think she got any damage, opened doors and visited her on hospital and stuff
Yeah i inspected everything too and couple times too probably.
