Here's a link to the question already having been asked, and it has some decent answers there. IMP all Silent Hill games are at least a little scary yes.

It's more about dread and tension building than jumpscares, but it does have a couple of really good (eg. the roof scene) sudden shocks. If Resident Evil scares you at all, you should probably avoid this as it's an actual horror game and not an action game.

It's scary, but the stutters are scarier.

lol Idk good luck though, and have fun if you do. I have friends too that games like this are just so scary they can not handle it. Silent Hill is it's own original idea with original cool monster designs, and concepts. It has it's own unique suspense, monster horror vibe to it that no will prob not feel the same as Resident Evil, but I hear the modernized controls make it feel a little more like one.

the original definitely had no jumpscares.

This game based more on tension and pressure then jumpscares. But I dont want to spoil you.

It depends, I'm the type to freak out easily and the game itself is not very scary but in two hits you lose all your life, there is not a lot of healing, if you manage the fights well you can end up with a lot of surplus on the other hand if you manage badly you can end up with the bare minimum. The fear is mainly the management of resources, then there are creatures in the shape of legs that have the particularity of hiding very easily in incongruous places, you wonder how they were able to hide there... and in addition they are mobs that dodge both physical attacks and shots, so you have to manage the melee well in this game and it is a big part of the fear of the title.

are you talking about the remake?

I would say its very atmospheric, you cant see far into the mist, giving a more of a fear of the unknown effect. The music also helps to give a feeling of dread that could be just a few feet further into the mist.

As with others who've obviously played, I found it more about the atmosphere and the slow build into horror. Some jump scares, a lot of really gross ♥♥♥♥ going on, but mainly all about that slow burning unremitting tension building up. I thought it was really intense. Signalis would be a comparable game for me, which itself was heavily inspired by Silent Hill.

its not as scary , more creepy, just look out for enemies . Alan Wake 2 was scarier with jump scares.

Silent Hill 1 & 4 are the only scary games. 2 & 3 are scary for those that have never played anything horror or are still under 15 years old or something.
Silent Hill 4 still scares me to this day even though I know the game like the back of my hand.

OG SH2 to be honest was the least scary
