game doesn't launch anymore

silent hill 2 has been okay for me the whole time since october but for 2 days i couldn't launch the game i press launch it says for 5 seconds launching then closes it and i cant even play it please someone help me much appreciated

What worked for me was verifying files and closing MSI afterburner/rivatuner

Restart Steam or Restart system helped.

Run exe's as administrator , game will complete shader progress. After that close the game and open it directly from steam

Crashes on Directx12 machines are due to a DX12 driver file being in a folder instead of the same location as the game executable. I go into detail about this in the thread below:

This worked for me, but I added "-DX11" not "-dx11"
using "-dx11" I got a laggy black screen that loaded into nothing.
"-DX11" booted right up with no crash

1. Go to your game folder ....SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\SILENT HILL 2\SHProto\Binaries\Win64, you will see a folder named "D3D12". Go inside and copy file "D3D12Core.dll"--> go back and paste it (should be at the same place as game execute file "SHProto-Win64-Shipping.exe").

2. Right click on "SHProto-Win64-Shipping.exe" / Properties / Compatibility --> enable "run this program as administrator" --> Apply, Ok.
