Thoughts on this game compared to its original? Thoughts on people who still think this remake is "trash"?
I only played through the original version via that fan pc port once and enjoyed it, I haven't finished this remake yet I just started it but thought it was fine so far. When they announced the remake people were bashing on it pretty heavily, but it seems they were wrong and this game seems to be at least an ok remake? The original SH2 from what I understand is at a pretty high pedestal considering many consider it one of if not the best survival horror games ever, so remaking it would be pretty damn hard since people are going to be very picky. One of my steam friends made a post saying that the remake was trash and would not even touch it, but he did apparently watch his friend play through the game where they "riffed" and made fun of it. And now I just bought this remake on steam recently and I am like I think its fine so far? Then again I only played through the original once and from what I understand there are people out there who REALLY like the original would probably have a more radical opinion than mine.

One of my Steam friends said that the remake has too much filler to pad out the game longer, the original SH2 I think took me like 6-7 hours to beat and apparently HLTB says this remake takes about 15 hours to beat your first time through? Thoughts on the game being longer than the original? To me personally it seems game playwise this remake is probably better than the original but maybe the presentation in the original is better?

I know probably a large amount of hate this remake got is probably because of Konami being a s,hitty company over the years and I think the other reason might be because Konami chose Bloober team to make the remake? From what I heard Bloober team isn't a particularly good game developer team in making horror games, and yet Konami chose them? Presuming it might be because they saw the game The Medium which was a heavily Silent Hill inspired game.

Actually it's strange that Konami is even making actual games in general, I thought they once said they weren't going to anymore and just focus on pachinko and mobile c,rap? I heard from a friend who told me the reason why is because their pachinko and mobile games are failing so now they are trying to fall back on actual video games by remaking their highly praised classics to appease fans of them such as Silent Hill 2 and Metal Gear Solid 3.

I personally enjoy this game a lot. I think it's actually a good remake. The increase in length seems to me to be because they expanded out sections and you generally feel like you travel further (this is also me relying upon my memory as I don't even have my PS2, let alone the game anymore). You also take some slightly different routes as compared to the original, with nods here and there to those original paths. The puzzles are also different while rhyming in some ways. I don't feel like anything was lost but remade in a way that modernizes the game, adds some moments and things while also generally keeping well to the original's story.

The increase in length is just unnecessary padding as it does absolutely nothing to enhance the plot. This obviously turns the game into a chore of a slogfest, the scares wear off and the game overstays it's welcome.
The OG was perfect at around 7 hours, give or take. The remake with basically the exact same stuff, only dragged out, lasts a whooping 20 hours, which by all accounts are three times longer than a survival horror game should be!

Almost everything in the remake was overhauled (Especially if speaking about Angela) or just left untouched. The things I didn't like was Mary's and Maria's voice, it was just not as good as the original and the optimization, that's all. I had pretty low expectations, but I was very wrong about it. I really felt like I have to apologize to Bloober Team after beating the remake.
As for those who still think the remake is trash, I think it's more likely people who can't play it due to optimization (I don't blame them) or, uh... Self-proclaimed "fans" of the original game. I enjoyed the remake as much as original and now I can't wait for the remake of the very first game, which is my favourite.

those who say its trash either never played it or are one of those that think that fixed camera angles should still be a thing in 2024(5)
I wish the otherworld graphics were grittier and darker with more contrast, also I would like some more ambient effects and music throughout the game, but otherwise I think this remake came out pretty good, I like the new Maria.

This game became the target of rage bait YouTubers because Bloober hired a consulting firm to help them ensure they were treating Angela's childhood trauma with the delicacy it deserves. As soon as it became public that they retained the consulting people then all the usual grifters started screaming all the usual buzzwords - woke, DEI etc. Nearly all of the people spouting off that garbage did not and will not ever play the game, they're merely parroting whatever their favorite grifter told them about it. Those of us who actually played the game and have the ability to think for ourselves pretty much loved it. I have some very minor complaints about the quality of Mary's voice acting compared to the original and the prison section being a bit too enemy heavy, but overall it is a fantastic remake that has me very excited to see what Bloober can do with the franchise moving forward. I'm 41, so I'm old enough to have played the OG game when it was new, and all through my first run of the remake I kept getting incredibly fond memories come back to me when I had summers off from school and just spending whole days trying to find every secret I could.

Why are you so infatuated with question marks? Most of the sentences you wrote aren't questions but you made them questions anyway? Don't you think people would find that annoying? Reading needling question after needling question? I'm thinking maybe you're a troll?

If this is a sincere post, then learn how to vary your punctuation.
