Will my laptop run this? Please help
I need to know if my laptop is able to run this or if I need to make adjustments; I'm not very familiar with graphics and settings so I'd need to know where to find my settings first before I could report them

You can find basic system info partially in Windows--->system. Best and easiest option is installation Of HWInfo for beginners with no idea about their specs,
https://www.hwinfo.com/download/

(The 64 bit version for Windows 7 and higher).

When you open up HWinfo you get access to all hardware readouts of your system. Motherboard brand/sensors, same for GPU/CPU memory and so on... . Great tool to get data for system performace/temperature or specs.

Silent Hill 2 is not a well optimized game, overall it runs poorly when considering the graphics and other things... . It also has quite a few noticeable stutters in some situations.

With compromise you can run and enjoy it generally, but a comparably powerful hardware is required for sure.

Example: I have desktop hardware equivalent to roughly 2000$ (monitor not included) and play at 4K. To run Silent Hill 2 at (mostly) highest settings with 60+ FPS I need to use balanced upscaling (FSR or XeSS/TSR in my case). That is all I get :). Most games (even new better looking AAA ones) not based on UE 5 engine like Silent Hill 2 I can run at 60+FPS high-ultra 4K native, so..... .

If you play on lower resolution or lower settings the hardware requirements are lower, of course. Try to get your system Info and what resolution you want to play at and the answer what performance you can expect will be quite easy.

Silent Hill 2 is a fine example of a botched Unreal Engine 5 release :)

So I did try; it was a bit glitchy at first but I upgraded my graphics card and it ran slightly smoother, but had a slow response and crashed right after meeting Angela.

what is your cpu ram and GPU?

go to steam , click on HELP, then on system INFO,

you dont need any program at all to find out

This game requieres a powerfull hardware sinces its unreal 5 engine based
If you're going to ask if your system can run a game then you should probably provide your system specs in your post.

We can't tell you if we don't know what hardware you have and we're not clairvoyant so we won't know unless you tell us.

Yeah I doubt you're going to play this game all that smoothly if at all on this hardware. The system isn't even built for gaming from the looks of it, really.

Yeah I thought so; been looking to upgrade so at least games transfer over

Not sure what you mean with "games transfer over". This kind of laptop cannot be upgraded to a sufficient degree (I think). The problem is the GPU in there, usually it is literally impossible to upgrade a laptop GPU (technical reasons/layout). You would need a fairly powerful dedicated laptop GPU at the very least and for that, well, usually a new laptop.

Sadly the type of laptop hardware you have now cannot really "run" modern games. Many modern games, like Silent Hill 2, will likely not even start up. You either need to buy a really comparably good gaming Laptop or a desktop meant for gaming in my opinion.

Honestly, I would recommend a desktop. You get more (better hardware) for the same money there and keep the old laptop maybe for work still.

Here, such reviews are useful. Techpowerup is one of the best sites to get more or less accurate GPU Infos

https://www.techpowerup.com/review/silent-hill-2-fps-performance-benchmark/5.html

This is also very useful to get an idea about GPU power :
https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/?sort=name

A nice database that reflects quite well relative GPU power. Type in a dedicated GPU you want to look at and you get the relative performance level.

Like here for mine (set to 100%):

https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/radeon-rx-7900-xt.c3912

This is likely your GPU right now:
https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/iris-plus-graphics-g4-48eu-mobile.c3647

It can use only 15 W :).

The game runs maybe a notch better now due to patches, but not much. The GPUs in the benchmark are all desktop GPUs (laptop versions with the same name are much weaker). Without upscaling you need a 800-900 $ desktop GPU to play at 60+ FPS 1440P, for example :).

As for a desktop I would recommend as best solution to build it yourself, otherwise a good prebuilt (this can be somewhat problematic).
