Silent Hill 2 (original) vs Resident Evil 7 Comparative Narrative Analysis

I feel that the narrative elements of Resident Evil 7’ Story don't get discussed that much compared with its excellent gameplay. Especially its suspicious similarity with Silent Hill 2’s narrative elements.

With the Silent Hill 2 Remake already out I want to take the opportunity to discuss those elements and how they are used in each game.

No doubt, that is the whole point of my analysis. RE7 uses the same narrative elements without a clear understanding of why.

I think the only similarity is the starting point. Guy receives letter from dead wife to go meet her.

But this premises immediately changes in RE7 as you find your wife in the first 20 mins. That's the end of the similarities.

Oh no! and Marvel rivals is a ripoff of Overwatch which was a ripoff of Team fortress 2 as well!

We are not talking about ripoffs, but using the same narrative elements without understanding them, or in a less effective way.
