Game refuses to boot up. I've tried everything. Nothing works.
Like the title says.

I have tried everything. The -dl11 method. Starting both SL2Proto-apps in administrative mode. Moving D2D12.DLL to the game's Win64 folder. Deleting save files (which I do not even have). Making a new shortcut with -dl11 added or whatever. Verifying game files. Reinstalling and redownloading. Nothing. Works.

All I've ever gotten is the Red Konami splash screen, followed by a few minutes of nothing and then a crash. Or, when I have added the -dl11, I got a black screen, some random noises a few times for a few minutes and then a crash. I have never even seen the Bloober Team logo, let alone the main menu. And the game never even closes, it continues running in the background and not even task manager can kill it, forcing a restart of the entire machine every time I've tried (and failed) to get one of the many suggested solutions to work.

My computer is less than a week old and has the parts I could get my hands on, so it should not be a specs issue. Is the game just completely ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ broken? Am I going crazy?

No, not going crazy I'm having the same problem
Open Windows EDITOR

Copy the following text (from this post!):

dxvk.enableAsync=true
dxvk.gplAsyncCache=true
dxvk.numCompilerThreads = 0
dxvk.enableGraphicsPipelineLibrary = Auto

Paste the text into the open editor and SAVE AS dxvk.conf

into your STEAM..... SILENT HILL 2 / SHProto / Binaries / Win 64 Folder
I just keep booting up the game. After about 10-15 times, it finally boots up and never crashes again.
Yes, the game is fundamentally broken. Even if you do eventually succeed in launching it, all you get for your efforts is being able to witness the worst UE5 tech demo of recent history, with single digit FPS and constant stuttering even on lowest graphics settings.
Bottom line: try to refund it while you still can.

Bro running on a 2006 laptop
Uh I just bought the game and was having the same problem. The splash screen would come up, the steam overlay notification would pop up and then the unreal crash reporter, every time. Luckily the first troubleshooting step I tried worked, I just closed everything and hit restart computer, and after a restart it loaded right up.
