David Lynch died
I know this forum is about the Silent Hill 2 remake (and to a lesser extent the original game, we can't deny). But for starters of this fantastic franchise: the work of this man was one of the biggest influences for this franchise. Watch movies like Blue Velvet, Lost Highway, Mulholland Drive or the show Twin Peaks (he was the cocreator, and the director of the movie) and you'll notice. And not just for Silent Hill, it was a partial influence for other videogames like Alan Wake, Deadly Premonition and Life is Strange. And this man has died.

And for Silent Hill fans for many years (like myself since 1999), well, we know this...just like this is a very sad day. I thought this can't be ignored here because without David Lynch...Silent Hill wouldn't exist. At least the Silent Hill we know.

Yeah, a co-worker just broke the news to me. He had been sick for a while, but that doesn't make the loss any less sad.

I was just going to make a thread.

Rest in peace, you crazy old bat. You will be sorely missed.

Silent Hill 2 fans, do yourself a favor and check out "Lost Highway".

The remake isn't the Silent Hill we know and most fans of it don't even know or care who David Lynch is. Very sad news indeed though.

You just trashing the game to trash it at this point did you play it at least?
He made that 1984 Dune which looked like a parody movie.

He didn't have full creative control and according to him it was a nightmare to direct.

But don't worry, I think most Lynch simps also don't like this movie, including myself.

My 2 favorite are Mulholland Drive and Inland Empire, which is a low-key spiritual successor to Mulholland Drive.

I guess now the only person I deem fit to take on Lynch's mantle would have to be Alan Resnick.

Best of luck on that journey to that White Lodge in the sky, friend.
there was no one like him and won't ever be, I grew up rewatching twin peaks, lost highway and mulholland drive, went to see Inland Empire in a cinema that doesn't exist anymore, met people that loved his world too. it seems almost all of my favorite artists have left this world.
Thanks for everything, Lynch.

Mulholland Drive and Lost Highway are among my favorite movies.

I'm sad the world has become a little bit less weird.

RIP :sanguinarix: :chug:

Silent Hill franchise took massive inspiration from many movies and authors, Lynch is just one of them. By the way, RIP David.

So, if any of you checked out his Facebook account, he made a post last August saying that he was now suffering from emphisema because he's been smoking like a chimney most of his life.

By the time he made that post, he claimed to have stopped for 2 years now. And just 6 months later, he's gone... Such a heartbreak, really.
Mulholland Drive is a challenging yet very rewarding movie, no doubt.
