She looks a lot older than in the ps2 version. I just started to replay it. Looks like they dropped the belly shirt (lol come on, 13 year old girls been wearing belly shirts since the late 90s). I do realize now (not sure back then) that ps2 Maria looks pretty much like a tramp/hooker.
Also she has no hips and a flat ass.

It seems like the heads of all these characters in the remake look really off, almost like this uncanny valley type of effect.

All of the characters in this game give an uncanny vibe that screams something isn’t right about them, when you look at Maria, Eddie, and Angela you get a feeling that something is off about the three of them.

Yeah they are similar and it doesn't matter if they scanned the face, they need to clean up the scan and manipulate the model, her jaw in game looks wider to me, but it could be the shading or the shadows or the angle.

Hit Detection is now confirmed to have worked on this. They are another notorious org like Sweet Baby Inc (SBI) that deals with desexualization and other content revision specialties. So there.

The voice actress certainly has womanly facial features. Whatever they were going for with the humongous head, the male jaw, and the awful facial animations....is their best attempt to destroy the male gaze I reckon.

I would add to that, the original voice dubbing is far superior. In the remake, the dubbing act seems played by amateurs without experience. Specifically Maria, feels emotionless most of the times.

Maria's role in this game was to give the presence of something malevolent with her character and she was suppose to stand out and even her writing comes off as being seductive in manner, even her body language suggest that and to be "showy".

She isn't ugly, they just missed the point of Maria's element in the game which took away some of that when you came across her. She looks puffy in the face as well. It reminds me of Mario Galaxy and everyone was soft and fluffy looking.

Look, I don't plan on getting this game at all or ever playing it. She does seem older than Maria in the OG, I don't think she looks bad though, I initially thought that as well but I think it's just some of the angles are more flattering than others.
Bummed to hear about this Hit Detection company apparently being similar to SBI but I cannot speak much on it, I will say I don't know how much of a good thing they would be for a game like this where you know, sexuality is a hugely prominent focus for story reasons.
