The game is underrated in terms of its horror

So i just bought it and played for an hour, damn this game is far more disturbing than i thought. The body horror combined with the dreamy asthetic really is something. I loved the re remakes but this is far scarier in my opinion. Runs well enough now on my rx 6600xt and ryzen 5 5600g but for some reason the forest and intro area ran MUCH worse than the part after. What do you guys think about the game in terms of performance on mid to low tier pcs and about the horrors of it?

SH is supposed to be a horror game, a good horror videogame needs to have death animations (a la Dead Space), they had the chance to add the latter to make fighting with the creatures feel more brutal but they didn't, i'm sorry but this is just lazy, there's no "horror" here, eck even Silent Hill Homecoming had death animations...

Body horror isn't just linked to mutilation or destroying the form its also about how the form is represented. The mannequins and Bodybag styled enemies move in unnatural ways with body parts we all have seen move normally. Like the ones that slither on the ground at fast speeds. They move very unnaturally and that is apart of body horror. You are also over looking the fact that most if not all of them have weird platform heel or high heel esque feet and oddly bodacious and pronounced butts. Those things are body horror. Its twisting what you would expect

I guess ypu think dead space is the scariest gaming franchise ever because it has death animations (that don't even always trigger btw) and that mortal kombat is the peak in fighting game horror because it has fatalities

this is exactly what i meant. I dont understand the whole argument, there’s literally people locked up in a human zipper without arms, alongside the great audio work and the fact that i never played sh, i found it pretty horrifying

Lol, RE was never scary. It is just game with stupid zombies.
Silent Hill is in different league. Wish to have it more scary, though. Well, in kids time everything was more scary)
Performance in game is good if you have 12GB or higher VRAM. VRAM leak is here, though. At least, autosaves here is pretty often. Also running to save point after each minor exploration has its own charm)
