DISABLE FOG (Very easy method)
First of all I must say that it is NOT recommended to remove the fog from this game as the whole presentation revolves around it. Also if you remove fog you will get insane pop-ins of buildings at fog distance and there will literally be nothing loaded at greater distances.

On the other hand disabling fog gives you a whooping 30% to 35% of performance gain depending on your hardware. So if you really want to disable it, here is the method:

Navigate to C:\Users\YourUsername\AppData\Local\SilentHill2\Saved\Config\Windows and open Engine.ini with a Notepad.

Copy these 2 lines at the bottom and save the file.

[SystemSettings]
r.Fog=0

Now when you start the game. All fog will be gone. A huge FPS gain but also a huge visual loss, so pick your poison.

Thank you now it looks like Fortnite, which was Masashi Tsuboyama's vision all along

The real psychological horror was the frame rates we made along the way.

This is funny. Fog is the reason performance is more taxing on HW. Original SH games - fog was the reason they could make them so beuatiful, beucase fog prevented unnecesary rendering. What a table turn lol.

Any way to remove the insane mouse smoothing and make it more like raw mouse input?

What is the default value? Is it 3 or maybe 2? It would be great if it's possible to reduce the density of the fog rather than just disabling it altogether.

It is just 1 and 0 for enable and disable respectively.
