I refunded the game after 30 minutes

Besides the performance issues, here are my issues with the game:

Angela looked better and sounded better in the older version.
Why can Angela not hear James approaching her and why is he not calling out to her like the older version?
Why did they remake the start to Silent Hill 2?
- James is breaking into someone else's store and "stealing" their key in order to unlock the blocked off entrance to the town
- James is following a blood trail from the flower shop all the way to the first creature


Here is where they totally lost me
- I lost my entire immersion with the barrage of sounds at the first creature
- You hear a barrage of sounds including Pyramid Head dragging his great knife on the ground while you are OUTSIDE (There was no 3D mixing with the sounds here)
- James follows the creature like a dumbass including crawling through a semi damaged entrance

Also, James is opening doors by walking his whole body into them.
- They seriously couldn't add an animation for this?
- He does like a slight shoulder bump on sprint but it still looks whacky.
- There is something wrong with the physics engine here (very unpolished)

I turned the game off early in order to still refund

I will probably but it on sale when the game is more polished and there is a mod to keep the old audio and improve Angela's face

As for the first enemy encounter... They changed it, yes, but there was a nice, slight reference to the old encounter as well. Personally I liked it.

I just hope that one day you will be able to like it as much as many other people. This game deserves it.

i can tell you've never played the original silent hill 2 if you think this remake is bad cuz of little dumb bs like this

I've finished all SH games, and as for SH2 - I've finished it more than 20 times.

And you know, through all those years I never gave a ♥♥♥♥ about Angela's face. Or Maria's skirt. Or their tits. Probably because it doesn't matter.

I finished Silent Hill 2 around 6 times. It has a special place in my heart, but this remake ain't it. You failed at a horror game when your there are so many distractions killing your immersion. Silent Hill 2 was a master piece to me, but this remake has so much fluff that keeps reminding me this is a modern video game. The remake to the start is so unnecessary and makes the town a joke.

Any remake is unnecessary. RE2 remake was also unnecessary.

Thing is that remakes never replace originals. Nor do they intent to.

Just don't take it too seriously. If you really played SH2 so much it took a place in your heart - with time you will start to love it. I sincerely hope so.

I would like to tell you that this is the exact reason why making a good remake is as hard as making a Half-Life 3 at this point - but you don't own the game and you say that you were not even able to play it at your girlfriend's house. So what's the point?
