DualSense Haptic Feedback + Adaptive Triggers for PC
Hi all, seeing this question floating around a lot, and official info sources are surprisingly sparse, so I figured I'd answer it definitively here: yes, Silent Hill 2 Remake supports haptic feedback and adaptive triggers with a PS5 DualSense controller on PC. I've only tested wired, so can't say for sure w/ Bluetooth.

Adaptive triggers are for attacks (I've noticed they occasionally stop kicking in, but will return before long, not sure what the catalyst is).

Haptic feedback is used a bit sparsely, really only for specific contextual things; no tiny rumbles for footsteps or ambient streaks of wind, but for some sources of noise/vibration, you get that really nice directional rumble, or the rumble that gets more intense as you draw closer to the source.

Hope this information finds someone in need! Cheers all!

What about health colour on the LED lights?

Yup! Green when healthy, yellow when injured, orange when badly injured, blinking red when near death. Didn't even notice until you asked, thanks for the reminder Hideo Kojima!

Is the game well optimized?

Difficult for me to evaluate that with authority, but I can speak to my experience at least.

I'm playing on a 4090, i9-13th gen CPU, 32GB RAM, 1440p/144Hz monitor. All graphics settings are set to highest, ray tracing on, DLSS set to quality, borderless windowed mode at 1440p resolution.

In-game framerate options are 30, and 60, and uncapped (and V-Sync of course). If I cap the framerate at 60, it stays rock solid, with only the occasional dip when the game is loading in a whole big new area.

If I set the framerate to uncapped, it'll vary from 90-120 in general, very dependent on the location: big open areas with lots of fog and dynamic lighting are more like 70-90, in-door areas are generally 100-120.

To be honest, I'm only aware of this variance in framerates because I keep the Steam framerate counter active in the corner of my game while I play. The shifts throughout the 80-120fps range, when they do occur, are quite smooth. I haven't observed any issues with hitching or frame pacing, or recurring sources of stutter during general play.

(In-game cutscenes are rendered at 30fps, but that's by design and cannot be altered)

In summary: I'm 7 or 8 hours in, and I haven't yet experienced any persistent performance issues that have in any way interfered with my experience. But again, my rig is fairly high-end, so take all this with a grain of salt.

Adaptive triggers are working over Bluetooth on Linux using Experimental Proton but some menus seem to stop them working so you need to alt tab out and back in to get them working again. Unfortunately I don't think you can get haptic feedback working via bluetooth on Linux unless something's changed.

In terms of optimisation I have a RX Vega 56 and R5 3600 and I can get 60 FPS using FSR1 at its Quality preset with 1440p as a source resolution with the low settings preset which is better than what they advertised their minimum specs as.

I have the coloured LEDs and adaptive triggers working over Bluetooth when playing using Proton but as far as I can tell rumble or haptic feedback is not working. Same if connected using USB. I've tried using an 8bitdo gamepad and rumble is incredibly weak on it as well even if the in-game vibration setting is set to high so might be a game issue?

audio, led, rumble and triggers all work for me. Steam Input disabled and Wired.
DualSense is updated to latest firmware

Here with me, after a while of playing, the controller stops vibrating!

works too

I recently customized controls and adaptive triggers stopped working, had to restart the game completely (loading did not work). It may be that they just stop working after a while and I just noticed after rebinding, but the restart makes them work again.

same here. Vibration stops after a while...

What works for me is not being in big picture mode and the controller works perfectly with adaptive triggers LED light change in and the haptic feedback even the speaker works so don’t go in big picture mode

Hello all. Found the most immersive way to use both native and emulated haptics for this game. It's even better than ps5 now IMO.

1) download DSX. There is a paid version on steam, or an older one that is free but older.

2) Disable steam input.

3) in DSX app. Use native. Then make sure to turn off "send data to to device" or your controller will bug out when running game, as it is conflicting with native. Make sure adaptive trigger settings in DSX app are disabled or off. This is because you want to be using the native ones in game. You may not be able to do some of this without paid version.

4) make sure to enable sound to haptics emulation in app. Now all your sounds, the fighting, the weird sounds, footsteps, doors opening etc will all have haptic feedback vibrations.

Now you can enjoy more haptic feedback combined with native dualsense adaptive triggers.

What about the cracking radio sounds?
