Since then I really thought we got over these days but bloober brought them back...
That said, I'm far more tolerant of it this time around. I don't know why it's just not bothering me as much. In dead space it ruined the game.
I hate this engine...
He is not an actual reviewer, he is reading a script nd is not allowed to say its bad directly, any form of stutter is bad nd concerning, this game is not doing anything new nd its graphics fall short, but yet it has zero optimization, nd it baffles me that the degree of analysis from DF is below mediocre, they dont show power usage output, 1 %lows nd more useful data to show the actual incompetence of devs ignoring optimization effort, this game is based on old tech, they are not doing anything new.
DF is the worst source to acknowledge, since they always read a script nd wont say that a game runs like ♥♥♥♥ directly, their research methodology is cooky cutter, propper data collection doesnt exist. They always promote Upscaling nd Ray Tracing, which say allot about their core essence, they are not to be trusted.
- Make a shortcut to the main executable with the "-dx11" command, or just add it into steam command line, so that the game uses DX11 to run, instead of the default DX12.
- Then download DXVK (A Vulkan-based translation layer for Direct3D 8/9/10/11)
Use google to find DXVK, not that hard.
Download the main file: "dxvk-2.4.1.tar.gz" (as of writing this guide, the latest version is 2.4.1) then unzip it with WinRAR (which will allow you to open the "tar.gz" file extension)
Inside you'll find two folders (x32 and x64), open the x64 folder and then take only 2 files from it: "dxgi.dll and d3d11.dll"
These are the only files you need.
- Paste the "dxgi.dll" and "d3d11.dll" into your game folder, where the main executable is (the main executable is called: "SHProto-Win64-Shipping.exe" so paste them where that file is.
it should be in this folder: "SILENT HILL 2\SHProto\Binaries\Win64\"
Now run the game shortcut that you've created in step one.
Basically make sure you run the game in DX11 mode, while having these 2 files where your main executable is.
This will allow the game to use VULKAN instead of DirectX.
And most (not all) stuttering is gone.
Locking the fps doesn’t fix the issue if the issue is frametime stutter. Playing Silent Hill today and locking to 30,40,60 or unlocked doesn’t matter. The stutters are there and they are awful.
Unless I've done something wrong, I lose the option for DLSS by doing this
