I haven't been struggling with healing items really, but the game is getting gradually harder. I feel like if I make a few false moves in a row I could start running low on resources. Currently I am sitting at 11 syringes and 11 bottles after the hospital, but there are enemies everywhere, and I am restarting certain parts where you get ambushed several times in a row, and if not for my restarts I would probably be running low on stuff by now. I have just been playing strategically, knee-capping nurses with 2-3 bullets, then meleeing them to death, and I never use bullets on the spitting monsters or Ms.Legs, unless it is a 2-3 monster ambush.

Turn that ♥♥♥♥ off in the menu. I have everything off except a small dot for objects and aiming. It's almost perfect except for the notification when you pick up items.
I like it because it tells me when I actually took damage (because sometimes when you get hit by acid it doesn't actually damage you) but I just can't stand it being on constantly.
But you can just look at James' jacket. The more damage, the more blood on his back.

What exactly is low health in this game? The red border appears after only two hits when playing with combat set to light, so what percentage of health are you at at that point?
I'm curious, myself. I've chugged healing bottles on two occasions just based on the red border but I'm fairly confident another hit wouldn't have killed me.

The way that you know the next hit will kill you is when a transparent health symbol shows at the bottom left of the screen. It is a transparent black color. It can be pretty hard to see depending on the environment you are in.

Any body have any actual tips for op or any one else for that matter? It's nothing but I had 100000 heals at end of game, y'all sound like a bunch of losers. Skill issue, more like you have no social life issue

Reach blue creek apartment level and tell me then if it's bait ...
I just beat this game on hard/hard with nothing but the metal pipe and finished with 47 health bottles and 23 full life shots..... Try again bro. It's a skill issue. You are using too much health because you turned the obvious indicator off and now you want to blame the devs? You are braindead.

There is not much to say other than use the dodge button and time it right. Search cabinets and break car windows to pick up more heals. Avoid easily avoided fights. Thats it. If you are unable to do any of these things then either keep practising till you can or lower the difficulty down.

I ended up having more syringes than healing bottles.

Welcome to actual survival horror. The game is MUCH scarier when you're perpetually on the verge of death. The original was hardly a cakewalk.

Horror is different for everyone. For me, I get severe anxiety from having to repeat the same things over and over again, so dying and having to reload a save 10/20 minutes back is going to stop me from playing the game. This goes for any genre by the way.

I actually have rather severe anxiety myself, but I would argue that a horror game that is famous for its difficulty and dying is probably not the best choice in your case? There are horror games with more checkpoints, but in this one the scarcity of checkpoints (much like in Alien Isolation) is a deliberate design choice. Fear of dying creates fear while playing.

On top of the monsters, it creates anxiety of having to start again from a checkpoint. Fear and anxiety are the primary selling point of the game. They're supposed to be a sort of cathartic release.

I died a good bit in the original. There are a lot more healing items this time around.

Dunno, not every game is to everyone's liking. I couldn't stand Resident Evil 4 personally but loved 2.

Very early in the game they are scarce. Then it starts handing them out like candy. At least on Standard.

The bottles do not heal much but are quick to use, on the contrary the syringes are slow to be used but heal completely, the bottles are therefore excellent during combats and conversely the syringes are excellent outside of combats or after.

then you can also dodge the fights in the city, it is also recommended, the enemies do not loot anything, except losing health when you have a firearm, the ammunition, pass next to them on the opposite sidewalk so as not to be seen .
