So much better than Resident evil
So much better than Resident evil 2 remake in all aspects. Gameplay, soundtrack, graphics, combat, story, plot everything you name it. Good job Konami and Bloober Team!

The fact that they kept most of the original sounds and soundtrack for SH2R is so immensely important. Shame about the barely existent soundtrack of RE2R

Well if I was Capcom I would too. Their action oriented RE games are the ones that sold best. They're just doing what's best for business and can you blame them?

ammo in RE2 Remake was scarce but that's probably because I played it on hardcore

Ironically best and worse. Resident Evil 4 was/is the most beloved entry to the franchise and was the game that kickstarted the shift to the action genre but it's direct sequel Resident Evil 5 was mocked for it's over the top ridiculousness because it tried too hard to be an action movie and every entry in the franchise after it sold worse and worse until Resident Evil 7, where they returned to their horror roots.

I think the difference is with the remakes of RE2/3/4 is that they really sat down and perfected the gameplay so that they could make a more enjoyable experience for the player whereas with games like 5 and Revelations they just sort of threw in machine gun kung-fu ♥♥♥♥ and hoped it looked cool.
What's funny is the RE5 Wesker is still the best villain RE has ever had.

There's only one track they left out that I really wanted in this remake.

Combat in this one is definately more engaging then RE2 remake one. I played RE2 and RE3 emakes and in both combat is meh.

In this melee feels messy and vicious and keeps adrenaline pumping, not as games like DMC where melee combat is the art but in a way you can feel main character fihgting his all for his life while not being warrior.

Gun has nice sound to it and feels impactful.

Meanwhile RE2 remake you are discouraged from using melee (which is bad anyway) by durability fo a knife, so melee is reduced to quicktime event )press to stab close range zombie with a knife) and shooting a gun that feels like airsoft both in sound and impact.

In fact in RE2 remake I skipped every skippable fight not becuase I was so desperate for ammunition but how annoying it was.

Also zombies are over rated, I always found Silent Hill lore and world much more appealing.

I would believe you, if it was made by a majority Japanese team.

RE4 is the best selling game of all time in the franchise. I remember it was first launched on gamecube. Good times , good times.

RE2 has a very basic combat. It's basically stay in range of an enemy and shoot them with your pistol that feels like its shooting out pellets. Don't even think about fighting zombies in close range with melee because it's useless. While in SH2 Remake you can dodge in different directions and melee actually is a viable way of combat.

200+ fps is given since it's a 2019 game. Silent Hill 2 remake is a 2024 game so obviously RE2 remake would run much better.
The dodge makes the game trivial on any difficulty setting.

Also no you can't make the excuse of the game being old, they look almost identical in graphical quality, but RE Engine is just better. RE4 Remake uses the same engine and also runs at 200+ fps

Regardless of difficulty, the dodge still adds a layer of depth to its combat. Much better than when you have to take a zombie bite because Leon/Claire is incapable of doing a basic human movement such as dodging. It rewards good players while punishes bad players if you don't dodge correctly.

Runs at 200+ fps on what hardware exactly? RE Engine is good but it struggles on open world games a lot evident by Dragon's Dogma 2 and the upcoming Monster Hunter Wilds which is reported to be locked at 30 fps on PS5 and XSX

I don't know! Have not played yet so can't wait to find out, but man Resident Evil 2 remake was good. Running from Mr. X the entire game was truly a annoying, and scary experience.

Such a shame that an otherwise awesome boss fight got overshadowed by the meme of Chris Roidfield standing in an active volcano punching a boulder until it "died" and fell in to the magma.

Can you mod the game that the female characters have huge knockers and buttocks. Can also play those characters? No? How can it be better than RE2:R?

I know it’s a troll post.

Oddly enough Resident evil 5 is still the best selling Resident Evil to this day, 2 remake is close though. Can't wait for 5 remake.

I'm one of the odd ones that highly prefer the action oriented RE titles to the survival horror ones.

Agreed, the whole RE franchise is super mediocre and overrated imo. (Except RE7, but even that stumbles at the end.)

On the other hand, this game is fantastic so far, it's on-par with Dead Space and Alan Wake II for me.

You hit the nail on the head my friend regarding RE2 remakes combat. Those are my exact problems with RE2 remake.
