Woodside Apartments drops performance BAD
I've already DRASTICALLY improved my performance from when I first started the game through many tweaks but I've now hit a deadlock at the Woodside Apartments.

RTX3060-12GB & I7-11700F DLDSR-1440p@60hz DLSS(v3.7.2) Balanced
Task Manager CPU Priority - High HAGS - On
Shadows - LOW
Textures, Shaders, Effects, Lens Flare - MED
SSR - OFF RT - OFF

Performance was unbelievably consistent 58-60fps at ANY point in the town, not at Woodside Apartments with the Flashlight On especially.
Dropped it to 1080p with Low-Med Settings DLSS Balanced and it's STILL stuttering and dropping to 40fps like crazy. Whats worse is that lowering settings isn't really improving it.

These small dark interior rooms just run so much worse than outside, with no enemies or fog or reflections either? They better be working on a patch soon because this went from impressive to frustrating very quickly.

I feel your pain. Got a 3080ti over here and I'm experiencing the same thing. Some people have suggested turning off HAGS to get rid of the stuttering or even setting the game to High Priority in the task manager. These are obviously band-aid/placebo fixes but yeah. Fortunately the game is good enough for it not to bother me that much. But I get it

Yep, apartments definitely run worse. Seems weird, because I feel like outdoor areas usually run worse in most games.
Any hope on a optimization patch?

Happened the same to me but after updating the graphic drivers it runs like a charm. I am using AMD though.
There was definitely something wrong happenning before updating the drivers because while in Woodside apartments I would get the same performance with low settings or high settings, barely 40 fps.
After updating and restarting the PC it never went under 60 again in high settings.

If we keep complaining hopefully

Nice profile name, fellow Meshuggah fan. If you have a 3080ti and its still bad then its most certainly not our fault its on the devs side, interiors shouldn't halve FPS something is fishy for sure.

Updating DLSS to 3.7.2 and Nvidia Drivers made a HUGE difference for me. Did this a few days ago however

Thats what I thought, I bet it's because the games still rendering alot of the town as seen through the windows?

I only had one drop at Woodside Apartments was in that large mirror room with Angela on that cutscene which I dropped down to 25 FPS at the worse but otherwise kept a locked 30 FPS at epic settings, RT on, and DLSS at quaility on a RTX 3060 12GB. Otherwise ran mostly fine besides the traversal stutter... Also picture of said drop!

Unfortunately 30 fps looks so bad on my display even while using a controller, no V-sync, motion blur on, and using RTSS lock to help frame pacing. Might just be my pc & display combo because I've tried everything and console 30fps doesn't look jittery like that.

Its unlikely they can patch this up. This kinda of stutter is usually at engine level based on how it was implemented at a high level. Just like wukong, flintlock and many others, when a game releases with stuttering its very unlikely it can be fixed without rebuilding the entire graphics design. It doesnt affect sales enough where the amount of work is worth it for them. If its a specific feature causing it more like raytracing it can be improved but usually not really. I have zero hopes the stutter will get fixed but im still enjoying it. i would really like it if they proved me wrong

Could be your monitor or TV.... Im also using RTSS to lock it to 30 and even playing on M+KB too. So no idea what your issue could be try messing with display settings to help. Otherwise my 30FPS is smooth as butter 98% of the time so far I played.

IDK what he's using but 30 fps looks extra awful on OLED displays.

performance is absolutely abysmal once i hit the apartments. Its disappointing because i really am enjoying the game but this frame drop and stutter is so extreme it is genuinely unpleasant to play through

A TLC Roku TV lol... Which is LCD as well so could be OLED issue you said but could be something else too... Since on Roku TVs gamemode is broken if he haves that on if he's using those TVs. Since that's the main issue I have with this TV so far...

It seems to be mostly blamable on a few specific rendering techniques, but sadly those are inherently burned into the game's engine itself, and there's no fixing that with a simply "patch", sadly.

This is what I was afraid of... you can see that the town is still rendered outside via windows... then add flashlight, shadows, and monsters... What could they do really? Adjust LOD's? Probably wouldn't do much anyways...

Ah actually I do have a TLC LED. I'll try messing around without Game Mode. Thanks
